Anyone have comments on whether this will work similar to the OP?
Just signed up for this deal. Have a new Moto E6 on the way with 1 month visible for $20 plus trade in of working Android phone.

I figure this is a cheap way to test out Visible for internet in my RV travels.

I think part of it is a hardware issue. I purchased a Visible R2 to test Visible tethered. Around 5meg or less is usual. Got my mother in law on Visible and she purchased the Galaxy S9 from them. So I'm kinda at the edge of Verizon coverage. Ran a tethered test on my R2 and got 3 mag. Then tethered her S9 and got 24 meg. Only difference between the two was the phone.

The S9 uses a state-of-the-art CAT18 modem which is why it has that kind of performance. https://www.tomsguide.com/us/galaxy-...ews-27209.html

Slightly off-topic question

First, I want to say thanks for this wonderful thread. As a result, I have purchased two Visible phones and the recommended router (which I love). Now to my question, can anyone with this modem explain the proper way to set it up to work with a Mobley? Feel free to PM me to keep this thread clear. Thanks!

gsgriffin, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I just got the phone today, got it tied to the router, and am streaming Netflix, Prime, and running a camera for the inside of the coach on the "system". Great find! I'll get to test it out in a couple months when we leave for our 7 month excursion around the US. I'm sure in some areas it will not provide, but it is a great, relatively cheap option for those of us that don't need gig speed. It seems a lot faster than using my S10+ with wifi hotspot. Again, thanks!

You're very welcome. Glad folks in the RV community are finding this helpful. At the start of my traveling, I had nothing but challenges until this.

You're welcome! and thank you for asking to take a conversation on the side rather than a page or two of people talking about that. That does help and it a good model for others coming. Start a new thread or ask for PM

Just use WiFi as WAN on the router and pick the Mobley in Internet Repeater mode

For those that can live without having the absolute fastest speeds. Lastly, for those that $40/month with nothing extra fits the budget.....only paying for the months that you actually need it.

I got into something that I can refer and create instructions on how to do, but I don't know if there is interest enough for me to go through the effort. In short, what I was able to put together costs about $190 upfront to buy a few devices. This uses the Verizon cellular network, gives unlimited internet (70Gigs before they adjust for network congestion), no contract, pay monthly as you need it, and can use as many connected devices as you like. In addition, the equipment can be easily modified to extend an existing Wifi, if the signal is weak but there is wifi available (wifi extender), and also connect up directly with a USB modem.

The catch is that this is not for the "noob". If you don't know what that means, you may not want to try this. I'm not trying to become technical support for hundreds as a volunteer. Sorry, I just don't have that kind of spare time on my hands.

If there is enough serious interest, I'll create the equipment list and instruction on setup. I've been using for a month without issue, 9 connected devices, streaming Netflix and Amazon in good rez (locally a Plex server I bring with me), and personally haven't been slowed down (about 5Mbs speed limit).

If you've been in the hunt for something as stated above, please let me know. Enough interest and I'll take the time to create the complete guide. Please don't ask for all of the details on what and how in this thread. It is too much to describe. Just post if you are seriously interested and need this. I'm only offering because I didn't find this option here.
I'm out. Not a noob but my life is too complicated fixing and replacing things on my 12 year old coach. Adding one more complication would put me over the edge and I might do something radical like buying a new coach.

Have been using for around a month and no issues whatsoever, until a few days ago that is. Every morning for the last 3 or 4 days, when we wake up in the morning, there is no internet on my laptop. It is still connected to the slate, but no internet. The first time it happened I rebooted phone and router and it worked again. The next time it happened I just rebooted the router and reconnected to phone and still no internet. Next time I just rebooted the phone and got internet back. Anyone else having any issues? I cannot tell if it is the phone dropping internet or the router. Hope Verizon is not getting wise to having a router hooked to the phone to open multiple connections (If that is even possible)

Few possible causes/solutions:
1) If your signal is weak or perhaps drops out, it could potentially cause the phone to stop sharing (not sure of phone and options)
2) Make sure phone is on "ALWAYS ON" mode through developer options.
3) Make sure the device you are trying to connect with it no timing out and turning off its wifi and needing to be reconnected when you start again....sometimes devices go to sleep mode and need to be connected

hehehe....Thanks for taking the time to let us all know that you don't want this option. Almost like the answers given on Amazon products community where people say, "I don't know". Sorry to hear about the "edge" you live on. If you can get a new coach that has unlimited internet built into it and can afford it, that is definitely the way to go!

This is not for everyone. High stress people that are about to pop, stick near a lake or river and forget everything on here. Stick to the fishing pole.

Really wealthy people that don't care about what things cost...keep what you've got or get the super expensive options.

Super high-bandwidth people that need to be streaming 4K TV all the time wherever they may be, this won't work.

For those needing an affordable option for unlimited internet (which the other carriers really don't provide as standard or affordable options) and those only needing average speed use (HD TV Netflix, web surfing, Skype video chat) and are typically in range of a Verizon cell tower....this appears to be the best option available today for us.

BTW...the 5MB speed cap has not been put in place by Visible. I still regularly get 20-40mb while in different areas at different times of the day. Sometimes out far away from everyone and sometimes near a city. Sometimes the city speeds are worse. Other times out in the sticks is far better. Welcome to cellular.

i agree with all that also....
my visible currently gets about 20-30mbps and seems they are not capping yet but matter of time i am sure or current data GB is not at the cap yet....not sure

I also agree carrier towers can be flaky and yes welcome to the LTE carrier world. As a general rule though city may be faster but it also feeds more public safety vehicles too.....so country may have less people using so can be faster.....bottom line hit or miss

i say biggest thing is know where your staying which carrier is providing the best fastest service by using the tower app
