In the phone or via USB tether per this thread, I am at 1-2 down. If I put the sim in my LTE router I am at 12-20 down. The phone goes to Band 13 but the router usually pick B4. Explaining that to them was, lets just say, impossible.
Which router?
Anything special about configuration?

Nothing special. I have a WG3526 with Sierra modem. Put in the APN and sim.PM me if you need more info. This thread has gone in enough directions. Also see the thread on here about the Mofi 4500.

postpaid accounts will always have higher speed and priority over pre paid accounts....i think what everyone is missing here about visible is they are a freelance company riding over a major carriers network in Verizon so there is never anyway Verizon will allow visible as a company to have their internet delivery better than theirs. Its actually in part of the signed reseller agreement.

as for using a visible sim in any LTE router, it will always be slower than a postpaid verizon sim card account......period. Visible sim placed in any router will still average around 5mbps or less.....you will see spikes up to 15mbps at times. Dont get overly excited though, its not consistent.

Visible is what it is for 25-40 bucks a month pre paid cellular data service. They just masked it in their marketing as not pre paid rather post paid.....

with all that said if visible works for your needs and your happy....good deal

for me i need LTE that streams daily with no data or speed throttle caps and in at least two carriers in Verizon and ATT so Im comfortable i will have good fast service without any worry no matter where i travel.

Also T-mobile and Sprint will be merging soon in 2020 so there will only be 3 major carriers in the country.

when i had my post paid verizon phone, data on the hotspot got throttled to 600K after 10gig. i installed a little app called +pda-net, and used that to connect as a hotspot and got the full verizon speed. this only works on android phones and computers, no tvs etc. just for giggles i tried pda-net on the visible phone and the data speed was the same, hotspot or on phone. this tells me that at the moment visible is not really throttling anything.

I apologize for an off topic response, but, since the pdaNET+ app was mentioned, I'll share my experience with that app.

I used the app for years to tether a laptop to my grandfathered, true unlimited data Verizon phone. It worked very well.

However, since a pushed Android OS update, I can't get pdaNET+ Ver 5.22.1 to work on my Samsung S9 phone with Android version 9 OS to work.

I haven't devoted much effort to find out if there's some workaround.

Take care,
Stu

Thanks.

PM sent to avoid further off topic discussion.

Take care,

new wrinkle

Lately, when making phone calls on the R2, the hotspot disconnects from the router. i am using wireless to connect. i never noticed that before, and i got upgraded to android pie about a month ago. i have to go into the router setup and re join the R2. i dont know if its phone or router related. anyone else seen this?

One clarification, Visible is not a typical re-seller (or freelance company) since they are wholly owned by Verizon.

To put it another way, Visible is business unit within Verizon and, in reality, is just another incarnation of Verizon's prepaid service.

R2 no longer available

Just chatted with a rep from Visible that said the R2 is no longer available.

What would be the next cheapest option?

They show their selection on their web site.

This post is for the OP. I wanted to let you know I'm very happy with the setup you suggested for all of us to use. I'm using all the gear you suggested and we have had excellent service. We have been on the road for over a month and have not been anywhere yet that we could not get service. We access our Dish Hopper at home and watch shows we have recorded and some Netflix. I have not used anything to check my up/down speeds because I don't care. It is working great. We have used over 68 gigs this month and still have 10 days to go in this billing period. There have been no slowdowns and only an occassional buffering. Thank you again for this option. I'm only paying $25 a month on party pay. This works so much better than the Verizon Hot Spot I used last year at $70 a month unlimited. We will be in a remote location in AZ. in about 2 weeks for the real test.

We are also in a remote location in Arizona about 20 miles east of Quartzsite, my service is non existent, cant even make a call. I am hoping it will be better as we travel back east across the states but it is not working here. I bought a Sprint Mifi through FMCA and regularly getting 50-110 meg down. Cost $49 used a 141gb in the last week still cranking. Hoping the Visible does the same when we can within coverage area.
