Add LTE modem to Wifiranger SkyPro?

Has anyone put their own LTE modem in a Wifiranger?

Our Coachmen Beyond came with a Wifiranger SkyPro wifi repeater mounted on the roof.

They sell a version of the Skypro that has an LTE modem, but the only supported upgrade path is to buy a $300 Skypro router board along with a $100 LTE modem option, so it would cost me $400.

If I'm going to spend that much, I'd rather put the money into a pepwave or other well known router.

I see the PCI-E slot on my router board for the modem, and in photos on their website, it looks like they use a Quectel EC25-AF cellular modem for LTE, which is readily available online for $50 - $75. (plus a couple u.fl antennas)

I asked Wifiranger support if I can upgrade it myself, and they won't say if it will or will not work, just that "if you have problems, we can't support you".

So, I'm wondering if anyone has done that upgrade to their Skypro (or even better, upgrading with a CAT-6 or faster modem)?

I don't mind taking a gamble with $75 but wanted to see if anyone else had tried it first.

I can't comment on the skypro, never had one.

I use a wifiranger router. It replaced a pepwave surf solo that I could never manage to learn how to operate even though I am a certified propellor headed computer geek.
Wifiranger is easy.

For sure, the Wifiranger is super easy to setup and use and so far it's worked well as a 2.4Ghz wifi repeater, but spending $400 for a $75 modem seems out of line, instead of that, I could spend $250 on a Peplink BR1 mini CAT-4 or $400 on a BR1 with a CAT-6 modem which can be twice as fast as the CAT-4 LTE modem that the Skypro kit comes with. Though I'd have to buy outdoor antennas to go with either option.

The LTE modem is a $100 add-on to the Skypro motherboard kit, I wish they'd just sell it as a standalone product.

I'm having some people look into whether we can sell you just the modem.

You will need to PM me the 6-diigit ID number of your SkyPro (upper right corner of the control panel screen). There are several board types used in SkyPro and I need to know which type yours is.
