Android Phones and PDF Files

I have been noticing lately that several folks in our winter rv community are complaining that they are unable to open/read a pdf file with their android based phone. I have on rare occasions had this happen also but not when using our android Samsung tablet or Dell laptop. This only seems to happen when using smart phones. Thoughts????

I have a Google Pixel 3 XL, when I click on a link to a PDF file I am given a choice of "PDF drive viewer"? or Firefox to open the file with. PDF drive viewer or whatever it is called exactly, is part of the Google apps system. I have opened PDFs using both methods and never had a problem.

I just use Adobe Acrobat Reader, the one for Android. Never a problem, it keeps a history of PDFs you've downloaded so they're easier to retrieve from the phone's file system, and the price is right.
