Another weird problem!

Well, this is my month for really weird problems! I am running Windows 10 using the Chrome browser on my laptop. Sometimes the scroll bar on the right just disappears! The only way I've found to get it back is to go to the three dots in the upper right, then down to the Zoom setting, move it up or down, then back to the original setting. Bingo, the scroll bar is there again!

I'm thinking this is some glitch in the Chrome browser but not sure. Anyone else had this happen?

If your having issues with W-10 do not under any circumstances consider W-11.

I had to get a new laptop due to a hard drive failure and mistakenly chose a replacement with W-11

There is already a web site dedicated to listing the worst things about W-11 .

I don't believe I'll live long enough to figure this mess out .

Rather than the three dots/zoom menu just press ctrl and + or - to zoom in or out, then ctrl and 0 (zero) to return to 100%

You might have overlay scrollbars on. It makes the scrollbar disappear. In its default configuration, Chrome decides on its own when you want the scrollbars to show.

In Chrome, type chrome://flags in the address bar. It will pull up a bunch of settings. Scroll down to Overlay Scrollbars and change it from Default to Disable. Restart Chrome and see if it fixed it.

UPDATE- Well, I'm still having the problem with the disappearing scroll bar!

It seems to just be happening on IRV2, and it happens many times a day! Is anyone else having this happen?

It's not iRV2 related. You are, most likely, just inadvertently/without knowing it, changing your zoom setting. I've got a friend with Parkinson's that's always losing or missing something on their screen for no reason whatsoever. It's because they mistakenly clicked on something or moved something accidentally.

I really wish it were that simple! I'm very careful about that. I guess it's just because I spend a lot of time on IRV2 that I notice it more here.

Is your copy of Chrome up to date? Chrome doesn't always update itself automatically and there have been several important security updates recently.

From the 3-dots, go to Help/About Chrome and it will tell you if you are up to date and will download any updates if you aren't. It will then ask you for permission to re-launch Chrome. it's pretty painless.

It says I am up-to-date.

There are lots of hits if you Google "missing scroll bar on Chrome". Here's one of them: https://www.howtoedge.com/get-the-mi...bar-on-chrome/

Thanks Joel! I'll try the first and last and see what happens. I won't try the second one unless I have to, as it disables all the extensions, etc.
