I've installed several for customers. Works great. It is a sweet deal to have all the Genie functionality in your RV, without having to run a bunch of cabling, or giving up your rooftop antenna coax runs.

If you are installing a new antenna, you would want a Winegard SK-SWM3

If you have a Winegard SK-3005 then you would need to add the SWM hardware to convert the legacy multiswitch antenna to a SWM antenna.

Just so my simple mind understands this. . .

The sat dish (assuming it's the right one you noted) acts as both a normal DirectTV connection and you can use it to connect wirelessly to the internet while traveling? No connection to a local hookup, no cable to the house, just the appropriate connections between the sat dish and the box(es)?

There is no internet connection at the satellite level. The Genie would only have access to the broadcast media, not the streaming media, unless you provide some internet connection. That however, is not usually practical in the RV environment. Internet connectivity is totally separate and different than using a Genie system for satellite viewing.

Internet connectivity is NOT required to use a Genie with the satellite antenna. The internet is for ordering pay per view, and for the broadband streaming options.

The wireless means that you can have the mini-Genies (or clients) located at the TVs in the RV and they get their data wirelessly from the main Genie device, without using a hardwire connection between the Genie and the mini-genies.

While it's true that they (c41w's) get their info from the Genie, you must also install a wireless video bridge. It must be connected to the system via coax. There are several ways to do this.

Correct, however the bridge can be anywhere and usually can sit right next to the HR34/44, and so far getting coax to the bridge unit has never been a problem.

Is the Genie a direct purchase or a monthly fee?

It can be both. If you need to buy one that you don't ever actually own.
Or if getting new DirecTV service or a upgrade of present service it may be free from DTV.

If you don't have DTV service now. There will be a extra $7 month DVR charge and a $3 Whole home monthly charge.

If you now have DVR and already pay the $7 and HD $10 monthly fee, then you will only have the $3 Whole home to pay.

DTV is your modern KOA for extra fees.

OH!! Don't forget the $7 for each C41 you get and if DNS is wanted that is extra $$

Wondering about that whole home fee of 3 bucks. I want to have a hr-44 only, no clients, no other receivers, nothing. Why should I pay the 3 bucks or do I even have to?
