Anyone Replace their Sirius XM Tuner?

When our local Lexus dealer gave me a new loaner car while the DW's car was getting repaired, I found out purely by accident that I am missing out on some good Sirius channels in the MH. I called Sirius to find out why I am not getting all of the channels. The tech support guy said I have an older Sirius tuner that is limited to 128 channels. The newer tuners get over 140 channels. He said I would need to get an updated tuner if I wanted more channels. He said my tuner is separate from the dash radio head, but could not tell me what it looked like.

I'd like to replace it. Anybody know what it looks like and if it's easy to replace?

Thanks!

Craig

It is easy to replace and is a square box about 2" square and 1/2" thick. The new ones are fancy enclosures.

Mine is in the drivers area, on the left side, on the inside fire wall.

I bet the dealer could tell you, it may be proprietary anyway and only available through Lexus if a stock radio.

Thanks, that's exactly where I found it. It's a little bigger than I thought. I'm off to Best Buy to see if they have a newer tuner that is plug & play with the existing connections.

Only propietary to XM/Sirius. If the head unit says XM/Sirius ready you can swap the tuner.

After seeing the tuner you have, I don't think the new units will work with the XM/Sirius selection on your head unit. You would be able to do via the FM antenna input however.

In that case I’ll just replace everything. I’ve been wanting a radio with Bluetooth and an iPod jack anyway. Another excuse to upgrade it all...

Any recommendations on a good radio head? I currently have the Voyager by Audiovox.
