Lots of hiccups in their plans for low earth orbit satellite communications.

If you have a specific need and it is the only product that works then it is your only option.

You are looking at a minimum of $1500 in equipment and $900/year for 1000 minutes of talk and possibly text if I am reading right. Data cost is between $0.85 and $26 per minute.

Would not be surprised if the bailout they received early on was meant to protect some high-flying spy cameras.

What is the use case? If the primary concern is email then an Inreach device may suffice at a fraction of the price. If you need Internet (and/or voice) Starlink may be a better choice these days.

I am looking for Canada and Alaska communications options, at the same time revisiting my mobile internet set-up.
Iridium Go - connect smartphones to satellite
Iridium sat phone
Starlink w/voip phone
Lots of satellite phone options available on the resale market, and if I were to buy something like that for the trip I could resell after.

Possibly the worst management decision that was made by Motorola. Of course, many other worsts were to follow after Bob Galvin retired. Motorola became a footnote in the dust heap of technology. Sad.
