Anyone using Dish Pay as You Go with Trav'ler and Hopper 3 ?

My 2 year contract with Dish for residential Hopper 3 service expires in March. I move the service back and forth between my residence and my RV. I have a Winegard Trav'ler and Hopper 3.

About two years ago my initial 2 year contract expired and Dish almost doubled my monthly rate. I called to disconnect as no way was I going to pay $ 160 per month, and they offered me service for about $ 85 per month in return for another 2 year contract agreement.

Has anyone been able to get Dish to continue their discounted residential rate they were paying while on the 2 year agreement, when the 2 year term ended ?

Has anyone been able to transition to Dish Pay as You Go and use it with the residential style triple LNB Western Arc sat dish and/or Dish Trav'ler and the Hopper 3? The only configurations currently mentioned for Dish Pay as You Go by Dish is the single LNB portable dishes like the Playmaker and the Wally receiver.

Thanks in advance for any insights you can share.

we have dish pay-as-you-go. we don't have it at home, just in the MH. we don't have a Wally. our receiver is a vip722k, the dish is a Winegard Trav'ler.

I use Dish pay as you go with a Tailgater and the Hopper.
Basic service $48/mo local stations 12/mo.
When in a RV park I cancel the local stations and use the antenna.

If you are in a park with cable service, you can stop Dish (must call) and pick it up again when you leave with the app.

You probably could use the Dish outdoors service to your home.

With the Trav'ler and a Hopper, you will need to add a DPH42 switch in order to get it to work. Also, depending on the set up you may need a solo hub.

You can search the net and get videos on installing the DPH42.

DISH Pay-As-You-Go is a payment option not a programming option or equipment option. It makes no difference what level of programming or what equipment you are using. It simply means you are prepaying for a months service at the regular monthly rate, no discounts. When the month is up you can choose to pay for another month of service, or not pay and your service will end.

Powercat_RAS, No good answer for you on pricing.

I've had a Dish Pay as You Go account since 2016. My current RV configuration is a Hopper 3 and Joey connected to a Winegard Trav'ler with the triple Western Arc LNB.

I've never had a home Dish account, only a Pay as You Go account.

One of the biggest differences between the two types of accounts that I'm aware of is that I own all my Dish equipment (Hopper 3, remotes, Joeys, dishes, etc.). If any of my equipment fails, I pay to replace it. A few years back I investigated going to a home based account, but changed my mind once I reviewed and understood the constraints Dish required.

I'm not sure how you would change from a residential to a Pay as You Go account other than shutting it down and starting over.

I actually do the opposite of what you do. When we aren't traveling, I move the Hopper 3 and Joeys from the RV into my residence and connect them to a fixed Dish I mounted on the side of the house.

Thanks for the replies. I'll post my experience with Dish when my current 2 year contract and expires March 15.

Following, we have pay as you go and service for the home. My monthly was increased by $40 bucks last month. $150/month for reruns is ridiculous. I want to keep pay as you go for RV and dump the rest. Getting a fire stick for the house when we get home from this trip.

Yes, most of it is garbage.

Why not use pay as you go at home? Connect your dish sat'l to your house RG59 coax cable. I don't know if you have to move your walley inside also. Or maybe you just have to move your walley inside and use your current home dish.
