Hi, Im having trouble staying connected with AOL. Im using their free version so online help is not available. I am using MSN as my ISP provider, and kept AOL's free version as I have been an AOL user for 10/12 years and am comfortable with them.. I know I'm not providing much info., but it will log on, stay connected for 30 minutes, or maybe 2 seconds. Seems to drop when a "click" is done Control/Alt/Delete then will show "Not Responding" on AOL. It will soon re connect, but in the meantime, its a hassle.. Any ideas anyone?. Outside of AOL, Im certainly not a techie, so correct anything I say, just be gentle ...rgr...

Hi rgr,
Are you saying MSN keeps you connected to the Internet but you loose AOL? Or are you saying MSN drops your Internet connection completely?

A way to test this is to have Internet Explorer running in a seperate window from AOL. When you get the AOL message, try getting to a web site (like iRV2, CNN, etc.)

Well, maybe I was a bit premature, I now see that MSN is also "not responding" on occasion., Also, muy neighbor (stick house) says he has the same MSN problem. Begaining to think it may be a phone line prob. I'll call them tomorrow.. Getting aggrivating.. Thanks again Gary. I 'preciate it"..rgr

If the problem is with your ISP, my first question is are you using dialup or DSL (there was mention of a phone line in a prior post)?

Just a long shot here, but if you have call waiting and are on line, receive a call then you would get knocked out.
There is a way to disconnect the call waiting by putting a couple numbers in before your dial up number that will do this but I do not remembet them.

Hey Bill, when I look at your position on the map as compared to my position on the map, I think we're about as far away in the continental U.S. as we could be...

Too funny....thanks for the post.
