AT&T Clamps Down, Kills Unlimited Data Plan

In time for the widely expected launch of a new iPhone model, carrier AT&T Inc. is pulling in the reins on data usage by its customers with smart phones and iPads.

More here.

However, you can keep you current unlimited plan for as long as you want, just keep paying the $30/month fee.

That sucks! I'm using DW's iPad right now. I was expecting to
Shut it off when we were back at the stick house. If i want to do any streaming I'll have To leave the account turned on for unlimited data. Shucks?

If you have DSL or Cable at the stick house, you'll be using Wifi anyway. So why worry about the 3G data plan?

Joe,
I'm on the road in the MH more than I am at the stick house. Using the 3G all the time will give me my money's worth. An example, we left the first week of May and I don't expect to be back to the stick house until July or August. Turning off the 3G for a month - we will be back on the road in September - does not sound like a wise thing to do if my unlimited data plan now will be downgraded.
