AT&T Dropping 3G
I may be late to the party, I thought I was safe from this until I had to call Consumer Cellular, a reseller of AT&T, about an unrelated problem.
I found out my iPhone 5S will no longer work if the planned Feb 2022 disconnect stays. Everything lower than iPhone 6 is dead. Guess I'm being pulled into the modern world. Of course I just upgraded my wife to an 11 Pro and we had already promised her 6S with a ton of pictures on it to our oldest grand daughter.
Anyway I did some digging around and found the info from AT&T Find out if your phone will still work on our new network (PDF, 441KB).
Off to e-Bay...

All the carriers are shutting down 3G and 1X between now and end of next year in the United States.

Yes and I was aware of that. I didn't know that the 5S wasn't compatible. I did step up to it a few years ago from a 4. LOL

What I was told just because the phone says it is using 4G on the screen (Mine does) doesn't mean it is.

Regarding the Iphone 5S, it does support "LTE, 4G, 3G, E, or GPRS" so I wonder why it wouldn't still work? Not that it matters to me, although I did give mine to someone who it will matter to. Perhaps a way to sell more phones?

Same thing for OnStar systems in 2017(?) and older vehicles. You'll need a dongle that attaches to your ODBII port and Bluetooth connects to your phone to be able to use ANY feature of the service.

Is there any problem with the Netgear Nighthawk MR1100?

The MR1100 supports no 5G, some 3G bands, and the following 4G bands:
1,2,3,4,5,7,12,14,29,30,66
So basically all ATT, almost all Verizon except 48. Not likely to work well for T-Mobile or on a legacy Sprint plan.
= = = = = = = = = =
Here are the LTE Bands used in the USA by the various major carriers:
АТ&T uses bands: 2, 4, 5, 12, 14, 17, 29, 30, 66 1900, 1700 abcde, 700bc
Verizon uses bands: 2, 4, 5, 13, 46, 48, 66 1900, 1700 f, 700 c
T-Mobile uses bands: 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, 71 1900, 1700 def, 1900 g, 2500, 700 a, 600, 850

This doesn’t sound right at all. The iPhone 5S has 4G LTE band support, so how would it not work?
But then again, we’re taking about at$t so nothing will surprise me.

That is what I said but that isn't what the document said.

I used to have a Teracube One. I replaced it in mid-August. It's now on that AT&T list, but it didn't used to be. AT&T is requiring phone manufacturers to go through a process to allow AT&T to certify their phones for use with 4G LTE and Voice over LTE (VoLTE or "HD Voice") service. Teracube was remiss, or AT&T was (don't know), and the One didn't get put through that process until very recently. (July) Whether, and which phones, to certify is up to the phone manufacturer, and while my Teracube wasn't certified I would get regular notices that AT&T would be turning it off next year, even though it fully supports the 4G and LTE bands. If Apple decided not to certify anything under the iPhone 6, then that would explain why they're listed that way on the AT&T sheet, and why you're getting notices even though the hardware supports 4G and LTE.
Supposedly, the rationale for this certification process is to eventually allow AT&T to switch everyone over to VoLTE and drop traditional cell support. This saves resources on the towers. (Lowers costs for AT&T.)
BTW, AT&T actually sent me a free phone at the end of July because I had stuck with the One, knowing that Teracube was working on the certification process. Not a very good one, but it was free...
