AT&T not so unlimited data plan

Two devices, $150 per mo. For unlimited and more “premium”. The premium service is the only way to get 1080p HD streaming. But even at that, you are throttled back after 15gb data on the hotspot. That won’t cut it.. What is everyone else doing?

We have two phones plus a jetpack on Verizon unlimited plan that's a year old. They throttle back each device after the first 10gb, so we "dedicate" the device usage between DW and myself so the 30gb will usually last a month

there are not a lot of options for 'unlimited' internet, unless you are staying home with either cable or phone internet service(though I suppose those are not really 'unlimited' either!)...

we have the same issue - AT&T Unlimited Plus plan with 4 phones, which share their hotspots with computers, laptops, ipads, and other devices...all restricted under the 'hot spot' rules.
While it's truly 'unlimited' if you are referring to just your phone usage, with LTE, it's not if you are sharing the internet with another device.

We compared with Verizon, but there are just as many 'gotchas' there as well, although they allow a 'faster' speed after meeting the hot spot restriction: 128kbps for AT&T, and 600kbps with Verizon, though AT&T gives you more 'GBs' for the hotspots before throttling.

Tit for tat.

and we have no other options, either on the road or at our mountain cabin, as the cabin has no access to any 'land based' internet providers, and the AT&T signal is enough to keep up at LTE speeds for some of the month. Oh well.

We got lucky and got in on the Mobley Connected Car deal that ATT had for a while. It's totally and completely unlimited and its an unbelievable $20 a month. They wised up and stopped that deal about 8 months ago for new accounts. You can still get it, but now it's only 5 gigs a month for new accounts.

I hired a data broker ($$$) and purchased a Verizon Unlimited account that's completely unlimited. It cost a lot to get the account and there is no guarantee that Verizon won't pull that deal any day. But so far it's been golden. You'll see these referred to as gUDP accounts. As in "grandfathered unlimited data plans". What the data broker has is access to the really really old legacy unlimited plans that have been grandfathered to those that have kept holding on to those plans.

I recommend you visit www.rvmobileinternet.com it's a website for folks in RVs and Boats that need internet. There is a TON - no make that TWO TONS - of info there and that website is how I found my two unlimited accounts. Mind you, some of it was luck but because they keep up to date on this stuff 24/7/365 is how I lucked into it. The only down side is there is a charge to get their info. I think it's $60 a year to join but it's saved me so much money that I'm on auto renewals.

We stream all of our TV on our RV - so I pay $20 a month to ATT and $43 a month to Verizon and it's completely unlimited. When on the road we use between 200 and 300 gigs of data a month. My wife and I have separate iphone accounts too for regular phone use. We keep these accounts separate from our RV unlimited accounts just in case the unlimited plans run into problems it won't effect our normal phone plans.

All of this stuff is constantly in flux. So, while I may have all this today it really could go away or not be eligible for renewal at the end of a year's contract. But we decided to take the risk and "so far" has worked flawlessly.

I've been on Straight Talk for a couple of years, now. $45/mo UNLIMITED talk, text, internet. No contract. 10g high speed. I'm on Verizon's network (by my choice) and as a former truck driver, NEVER had a problem with reception anywhere in the country. I don't know why anyone would pay more.

I find anything on a computer screen is good at 480p. This uses tremendously lower amounts of data than 1080p. So you may want to lower your resolution to save data.
Having Dish for actual tv watching saves data for data not watching TV via the internet. Dish costs me ~56/month and can watch it as much as I want without limits.

Unfortunately, the "unlimited" isn't. Once you pass a threshold it drops to 2G speed which isn't fast enough for video streaming. Even their new "ultimate unlimited" is limited to 60gb. Which is a lot, true. But you can't use the phone as a hotspot nor can you use the SIM card in a Mifi device.

So, you are very limited with these Straight Talk unlimited plans if you want to use the data for anything but on your cell phone.

There is an AT&T plan known as "wireless home internet" that provides 100GB for $100/mo plus taxes. My monthly bill is ~$113. I originally had a "rural internet" plan on AT&T that offered 250GB for a similar price, but AT&T started deprioritizing it when I was not located in a qualifying rural area. The plan I have now uses the same ZTE box but is not geographically restricted.

I think the plan is subject to the 22GB network congestion restriction but I still am getting ~4.5-5Mbps download speed when that happens. At my present location when there is no congestion the speeds are in the 15-20Mbps range.

I'm not sure why more people aren't using this plan. If I exceed the 100GB it is structured to automatically provide 10GB increases for $25 each without reducing my speed. However, I avoid that by using the 45GB hotspot capability (in total) that I have on my 3 Verizon devices. So far I've been able to stay within a 145GB/mo budget.

I suspect he means 10GB of high speed data. That's what you would expect with Straight Talk.

You get 10GB of data at up to 4g (high speed). After that you may be thrilled down to 2g (low speed)

I was told last week by AT&T the wireless internet plan is no longer offered. The only wireless internet they offer now is through the phone hotspot which is now 15 gb/mo.

The Rural internet plan is only offered in some markets and unfortunately I don't live in one of those.

I have copper wire Frontier dsl and use the phones hotspot when the dsl goes down, which is quite often.
