AT&T’s Wireless Home Phone & Internet Rural Plan

So I went into the AT&T store in Salem, Oregon to check out the new plans and for kicks and grins mentioned the Home Base special. I gave the lady the "250gbwhpi" plan id and asked if she could look it up. I told her that I live in a MH and spend much of my time in Kansas, but have a home in Oregon and have a PO Box for mail here. She found the plan and asked if I would like to sign up...of course I said yes. I now have the device hooked up and it works great. 6mb down/5mb up. She said she could give the same offer to others either in the store or by phone and was ok with me giving her name and phone.

What is your total monthly cost? How about actual results measured instead of maximum possible? Also, do they throttle you after a certain amount used per month?

I have the same plan. It appears that a full month's bill will be $60 + tax which will work out to be ~<$75.

As for performance, I am routinely getting ~10-20Mbps download speed on the tower I am currently connected to. We've used ~27GB of data so far this month with no evidence of throttling.

My guess would be no based on my stop last night at my local store (far from rural in St. Pete, FL). The woman there knew almost less than me on the subject of this adapter and could not/ would not search for the plan by number. She went as far as telling me the OP was likely a scam which told me she was clueless since the phone number listed goes directly to an AT&T store as stated. I'd say the best bet is to try the phone number/ name from the original post. I too am intrigued with this setup as I am planning to work from the road and that amount of data would far exceed what I'd need to survive.

Last heard that ATT is "on to" RVers signing up for the plan and have internal communications not to allow users outside the specified areas to sign up.
The Unlimited Choice plan is really the way to go now from what I read anyway. Just my humble opinion.

I'm glad to hear it is working well for those that have it up and running. Have read a few forums that the unit is pretty old from the technology front, with several of the newer bands not being covered. I also believe I remember reading somewhere that they may have inside the case service port, looking forward to seeing if this will work with an external antenna...

Our's should be delivered to the next RV park we're going to today...

Best to all,
Smitty

I'd like to know where the service areas are located. I know they listed states but not specific areas. I've got some friends that live out in "The Middle of Nowhere, Ohio" and am tempted to have one of them see if they can obtain one of these for me and I'll just pay the cost, etc.

I'm trying to not mess with my current family shared data plan but will be working on the road so will need more data that it provides. I still may end up with some sort of "unlimited" plan but the10GB tethering and 22GB throttling will be an issue. I'll likely just have a separate account created if I go that route and also get a Verizon account with something similar too.

No you were right, you said 6mb down and 5mb up. It is is megabits, not megabytes. Megabits is a measure of speed, megabytes is a measure of quantity. Proper acronym is Mb - megabit and MB - megabyte.

Yes, you had to figure that wouldn't take very long.

To get technical about it, you could measure megabytes per second if you wanted. Just like you can measure kilometers per hour or miles per hour. Or parsecs per hour. But then there might be confusion caused by whether the megabyte was measured as 1,000,000 bytes, 1,024,000 bytes, or 1,048,576 bytes. Of course for network speeds, 1,000,000 is the standard, so a measure of megabytes per second would just appear as a number 1/8th as large as the equal megabits per second figure.

Megabits is a measure of a quantity, a million bits. Megabits per second is a measure of speed.

AT&T’s Wireless Home Phone & Internet Rural Plan

Per this article https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/att...-for-60month/#

It's only available in certain areas...

States where this can be found are Missouri, Kansas, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Western PA, and Upstate New York.

These rate plans are intended for specific customers and rural areas with sufficient network capacity. Customers attempting to use these plans in non-targeted areas with network congestion will experience slow data speeds and will likely find the experience unacceptable.

So far the experience has been acceptable, but time will tell
