Avast trying to download Dropbox

After I installed Avast Anti-virus a few days ago I realized a program called Dropbox kept trying to download/install. I think I have stalled it so far but just what is it? Is this something good or something to be avoided?

AVAST and Dropbox are two separate application that have nothing to do with each other. As you know AVAST is a very popular FREE anti-virus application and should protect you from most malware.
Dropbox is an online storage application that allows you to keep your files online (securely) and can be a form of insurance to prevent loss of files important to you and can be used to share files with others if you allow it. If you have multiple devices Dropbox can help ensure that the same file on each device is synchronized on each device. It does take some bandwidth to do the synchronization function however and you may not want to use this feature on slow connections.
It requires you to establish an account with the Dropbox website if you wish to use it.

Appreciate that information. Definitely sounds like Dropbox is something I don't need or would know how to handle. Thanks.

Well Said!

Eventually, we all get stingy with our Bandwidth, especially when traveling and are paying for data at the present rates.

When traveling, after I set up, I will spend an hour or two, shutting down some of my apps that want to work in the background.

Dropbox is a File/Photo sharing service (Example included) which lets folks like me post photos to places like this.

AVAST has a feature called SCAN for outdated software (This is under the SCAN menu on the user Interface)

It checks with the Dropbox, Firefox, Thundrbird, OpenOffice, Whatever software you have, web sits to see if there are updates and when it finds one it attempts to download and install. This is NOT bundled crapware as with so many other programs.

Dropbox was mostlikely installed on your computer by the manufacturer (Was on some of mine as I recall)

Enjoy the sunrise:
Home is where I park it!
