Braun antenna wih winegard sensar pro

I have a 2001 Dynasty that had the old Braund antenna. I recently upgraded the interior to hd flat panels. I removed the Braund amplifier/cigarette lighter faceplate and installed the wineguard sensar pro.
It will not scan or seek. I still have the Braund directional antenna controller and the Braund antenna.

I thought the swap of the Braund amp/cig lighter with the sensar pro would be an upgrade?
Is the amplifier for the Braund in the antenna or the faceplate? Same for the wineguard?

Thanks

Jeff

Jeff, if memory serves me correctly the Braun antennas do not have the amplifier in the head of the antenna like Winegard models and instead have their pre-amps in the controller inside the coach. The Winegard antennas rely on a simple 12VDC source to power it. Unfortunately I've only ever even seen 1 or 2 braun antennas on coaches in my lifetime - they're not the "norm". Perhaps someone with more Braun experience can chime in.

I now believe I replaced the Braund DC supply (which has the amplifier) with a wineguard signal meter (with no amplifier). So I have no amplifier since I still have the Braund antenna. I will look for a wineguard antenna that has a motor in the base and replace my motorized Braund. Or else wire the old Braund between the antenna and the new wineguard digital signal meter.

Lesson learned. A wineguard signal meter is not the same as the Braund wall plate ( because the Braund wall plate has an amplifier. ...even though they look the same!! Banghead

94-Newmar is correct. There is no amplifier in the head of the Braund antenna and the Braund amplifier does not help with UHF. I called them several years ago for some help and was told that the amplifier does nothing for HD signals and to just bypass the amplifier. I assume what they really meant is that the amplifier only works with VHF signals and that the HD signals are on UHF.

I recently replaced my Braund with a Jack because I damaged the Braund from overhanging tree branches.

Has anyone replaced a Braund motorized antenna with a wineguard motorized? Which wineguard?

I believe the only motorized one that Winegard has available is the Sensar-III .. it's the MA1000... here's the link: Motorized Sensar Antenna - Winegard

The winegard signal meter (You said Sensar Pro at first) IS an amplifer as well.. however if hooked to some antennas might well be damaged if they are not designed to accept 12vdc..

The Winegard antenna contains active electronics and a way to take the 12VDC off to power them without messing up the RF signals.

SOME antenna designs will appear to be a DEAD SHORT at DC.

The Sensar Pro is protected against 12 DC on it's output. (Not all pre-amps are) but the only protection against a shorted input side is a fuse or two.. And Murphys law says a 100 dollar part will burn out to protect a 25 cent fuse.

Are you saying the wine guard signal meter sends 12VDC down the coax?
