I also have an iPad and so if I am playing a movie on netflix should I be able to use the iPad as the player that plays on one of the three Sony's????? Have not been able to figure it by fiddling and wondering if it is possible. Help techies.

Your iPad needs a connector to hook it up to a HDTV. Apple makes one for $39. Apple Digital AV Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

You could also search ebay for 'ipad tv connector' and find other brands of connectors and cables to do the same thing.

I use an iPad HDMI adapter. Works very well.

There are different types of adapters, so choose well. (VGA, DVI, HDMI, etc.) If you can, get the one that will plug into AC and maintain battery level while streaming.

Send a message via Yahoo to Rick Long
You're going to pass your 5 gig limit VERY fast streaming movies... so don't be surprised when you get your bill.

Or for $99 you can buy an Apple Tv and get wireless streaming to you TV. I have my own router (WiFiRanger) in my rig for my network so the Apple Tv works great for me.

For information purposes, this 2010 link I'm providing will give you some data usage.

It rally depends on what provider you are streaming your programs from. Take a look at this link for information. I think you will find that streaming a movie will use about 2-3mb per minute.

Data Usage

Or search on the words "how much data does streaming videos use" without the quotes.

And if you are technical, you can easily jailbreak the Apple TV, load something like XBMC on it and play far more file types on it compared to the Apple limitations and allow you to stream movies from a laptop you might have along with you in addition to the files on the iPad. This would allow you to have larger storage for files that the iPad.

I did that to my "First Generation" Apple TV. Works great.

Nice thing about the First Generation is that you can store movies on it for playback later.
