Can't get signal... ??

Recently purchased new HM (Forester 3011DS, with front entertainment center).

Verified with Forest River that my cables were hooked up properly for DirecTV receiver.

BUT, can't seem to get any (!) signal. Using portable sat dish with tripod. Hooked up RJ6 cable to cable/satellite connection on outside of MH. Using signal finder but get no indication of a signal. Have gotten signal in same spot with old MH. Now, old MH was 15 years old and I would use RJ6 cable and analog TV's.

I now have nice new digital TVs. I also notice that the cable inside the MH is tagged as DS6 12-14.
Questions:
1. Should the signal finder at least tell me if there is a signal coming in from the LNB, whether it goes out to the receiver or not?
2. New MH, updated digital stuff, do I need new cables and not just the old RJ6 that I used in the old MH?
3. DirecTV receiver is an old standard one (no DVR no bells and whistles) that I've used for years in the MH. Any reason this won't work in new MH (will try and contact DirecTV later but hold times are ridiculous)?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

The campground cable input and raw SAT input would NOT be the same port unless you or the maker installed devices called a "diplexer" on both ends of the coax (bin end and entertainment cabinet end).
See: Satellite Diplexer: Signal Combiner and Splitter

The raw SAT usually needs it's own unbroken cable with no signal amp attached anywhere on the run.

Did the dealer or Forest River documentation show you where the portable antenna was supposed to be connected?

Best luck

As previously posted, unless your single coax input is specifically set up for both cable and satellite it won't work. The cable input goes through the signal amplifier and usually common with the OTA antenna. The amplifier will block any signal from a satellite antenna. Our friends have a new Fleetwood and that is the case with theirs. There is only one input and it will not work with a satellite receiver. We had to run a separate coax input directly to the receiver.
