Dash cam suggestions
Hi all. Looking for a quality dash cam and would like to hear pros and cons from those using them. Video duration and picture quality are important. Thanks for your help.

I have a Garmin Dash Cam 45. We wired a switched 12v connection up behind the forward TV. When we turn on the RV the camera boots up and 15 seconds after the ingnition is turned off it shuts down. (it does have a battery) We have turned off the internal sound, because who needs to hear us talking smack about the idiots around us? (so I don't think that's an option to pay extra for). It does GPS location, speed and time.
We have a 32GB SD card installed and the recording auto-loops over the oldest recording. It's got a save mode that you can activate with the push of a button or if there is a "shock" to the system it will also save (so some larger bumps will activate a save).
I would recommend it.

I have a Z-edge Z3G with rear cam option in my Tahoe and a Rexing V1 4k in my Silverado. Both work great and with 128GB cards, will record 11 hours of video while looping. Both have wide angles of view and good quality at night.
The rexing has wifi so I can view from the camera without pulling the card out but I don't really use it. Easier to just plug card into a comptuter

Thanks for the info. Am I to read this as a 128gb chip holding 11 hours of video? My main goal is to record the scenery and route with a secondary goal of accident info. Hoping I never need the accident info!

I’m looking for one that will last more than one summer. The first one ate SD cards, even the extreme duty cards. I even took to taking it out of the coach when it was stored, but eventually the cards would fail. Then the unit quit reading the card. The second one failed while in use. I think the heat in the front window killed it. At what price point do you get reliability? Both were around $100.

I have not looked at the timing of the Rexing but the Z-Edge is 11 hours with front and rear camera (1024 pixel each) or 2048 pixel for front only with that 128gb class 10 card. Then it starts overwriting the older data that is not "protected" from impact sensing.
The Rexing stores the same resolution so it should be very similar in the capacity.

I bought the Rove R2-4K and love it! It's simple to program and use, and the video quality is great!

We have the Rove R2-4K and have had no problems with it. We feel it has a very good and clear picture even at night.
