Direct TV Receiver Question

I finally bought a big HD TV for the home family room. The DTV guy came today and installed a new HD antenna on the roof, the old one is a round 18" antenna that's been on the roof for 10 years. Anyway, I have 2 SD receivers from before that I use in the house and take on the road in our RV. The installer had to change the antenna setting on my SD boxes in order for them to work with the new Slimline HD antenna dish. My question is, will my SD boxes still work in my RV off the KVH dome or will I have to reset the antenna selection in the boxes to something else? Oh, I'll just leave the new HD receiver home.....Thanks for any help!!

Receiver Must Match Antenna

You have to tell the DTV box what type of antenna it has. It isn't hard, but it is time consuming and usually causes the DTV box to reinitialize. If your home system has only one coax to feed multiple DTV boxes or to feed a multituner (HR24, HR23, etc.), you have SWM (pronounced "swim") technology and will also have to change the multiplexer type in setup. I needed SWM in my TT, and changed my homes system to SWM to keep from changing the setup every time the DVR went to or came from the trailer.

Thanks for your help. The SD boxes are D-12's BTW, and I've used them many times in my RV with both a KVH dome and also with a portable DTV oval shaped dish that has a 3 output LNB.
The new HD antenna does use just 1 coax into a 4 position splitter and some type of power supply that feeds into the splitter.
What has me concerned is that if I plug one of my D-12 receivers back into my round 18" dish, it doesn't work any more, no signal at all. I try to change the antenna setting back to selection 1 - Round 18" dish and the setting isn't available. Only goes down to select 3 - Slimline dish....and of course the box keeps jumping to Acquiring Sat info and hangs there because there is no Sat info. Frustrating! Boxes work great with the new HD antenna, selection 17......

If you carry them back and forth you will have to re-set the antenna setting every time you move it.

This is correct, if your switch type is SWM, then the 18" round is not an option. The 18" round will only appear when " multiswitch" is selected as the switch. as wa8yxm said, you will have to change these settings each time you move the receiver.

Thanks for all the help folks!! I'll follow the suggestions and change a box back to multiswitch and Round 18". When we take the boxes to the RV we are usually on the road for 5 or more months at a time so changing the boxes won't be much of an issue. Thanks again!
