Directv

I am going to cancel Directv too many issues with customer service. If you have Dish, how do you like it with the RV and what is the cost.

I started with Dish in 2012 just in the RV. Liked it so much, dumped Comcast at the house and have it in both now. Won't change unless something Way Better comes along.

We’ve been with Dish since early 90s in S&B & RV. My bill runs around $178 /mo. Plus any movies rented.

For the most part we’re satisfied.

Do have one complaint. When recording programs, dish invariably cuts off the last minute.

The units are the OLD 722Ks. Peter

You can add extra time to any recording since there are multiple recording channels. That's on the new Hopper. 2000hrs recording time.

Love it. $7 a month over my regular monthly bill. I've had Dish since the early '90s.

There's a long discussion HERE with lots of good info.

We replaced our DirecTV with Dish at the house last Friday, and so far we're quite happy with the software and equipment. We're not going to put it in the RV just yet because we never really watched the DTV in it that much anyway.

Cost is about $60 / month less.

We switched to Dish from DirecTV last year, home and motorhome. Basically have the same service 5 receivers 1 is a dvr (hopper home) and have 2 in the motorhome (walleys). We find the dish system is better in the motorhome and we now get HD with an in motion dome. Price dropped from $146/mo to $116/mo. An added bonus is weather doesn't affect dish as much it did with DirecTV.

Heh. We were grandfathered into Dish and eastern network affiliates about 10 years ago when Motorola finally killed 4DTV on the BUDs. We added a Wally and the Winegard In-Motion dish when we purchased our Sunstar. We like Dish at home, and on the road.

Dish does a much better job with RV'ers than DirecTV.

If you set up Dish at home, then an extra receiver for the RV only costs $7 per month. You can take your main home receiver with you but if it's a Hopper system it would require a triple LNB antenna in the RV like a Winegard Trav'ler or a RF Mogul. FWIW I have had both DirecTV and now Dish for eight years and am much happier with Dish.

I've had Dish Network at home since the early 90s (Dish started in 1980). Current cost is $130/mo.

Several years ago wife and I got new Verizon cell phones (Samsung S8+) and were grandfathered with our previous Verizon unlimited data plan.

After we got the new phones, we installed the "Dish Anywhere" app. That allowed us to have access to ALL of the Dish programming PLUS it gave us access to our home DVR and anything that was recorded on it. We could also record new programs on the DVR at home. The downside was that we had to watch everything on the phone.

A year ago, I found that with a $15 dongle/adapter from Amazon, I could connect an HDMI cable between the phone and the RV TV input.

Now, anywhere we have a Verizon cell signal, we can watch Dish real-time programming or anything we have on the home DVR on the RV TV.

No Sat dish needed, No change to accounts, No extra cost in Dish or Verizon.

It works GREAT, but with this C-19 virus stuff, we can't go anywhere.....

I switched from Direct to Dish last year in both the MH and stick house. Have a Hopper3 and two wireless Joeys. Just take the units out to the MH and hook them up. It did take some extra equip to get the RF Mogul to work with the Hopper but going wireless gives me HD without running new wiring. Saves some money on the monthly bill over Direct too. Happy with the change.

We were a Dish customer for 20 years. Last fall we canceled it and subscribed to Orby. Its 1/2 the cost of Dish. There aren't any sports channels on Orby, so if this is important, you're SOL.. They also use an outside antenna for local channels.

I like the way their receiver integrates the satellite channels with the OTA (over the air) channels.

I have two receivers at home (no extra charge), we take these with us when we travel. I did order an extra antenna and modified my old Dish tripod so I could mount the Orby on it.

I did a short article on my site:

Orby Satellite TV – 1999 Southwind 35S
