Directv Streaming

My daughter and SIL just signed up for this and are very pleased. Interface looks like a typical "guide" with the channels in alphabetical order(what a concept!). Just curious if anyone has used this in an RV - it doesn't seem to have the geographic restrictions that Hulu Live does. Thinking of cutting the cable at the S&B and going with this; plus using it in the RV.

Thanks!

Do they use a hotspot to stream, cause streaming eats a lot of data.

Yes it does, but that's not my question.

The Mobile Internet Resource Center has a write up on this service provided by DISH. Apparently they purchased some cellular bands recently. Would encourage you to read what MIRC has to say about using this service in your RV.

My interpretation of what was said..... coverage will be lacking until DISH can build up it's infrastructure.

It's the content streaming service of DirecTV, not Dish. Coverage would be determined by your internet or cell provider.

A couple of months ago, when YouTube TV was threatening to drop NBC programming I explored what my fallback position would be if that came about. I had reluctantly decided that DirecTV streaming would be my best best, for the reasons you have given.

DirecTV Stream

I switched from DirecTV Satellite to Stream after using the Stream service for 3 months. The package channel lineup is the same for the satellite and stream (if you have the premier in satellite, the channels are the same for stream). I saved $100 per month from what I was paying with satellite.
I just came back from Tampa for Thanksgiving. I used it while I was there using my phone. I have 30 GB hotspot in my plan. Watched a couple of football games and a movie and a couple of 1 hour shows and my phone showed that I used 16GB for the week so it does eat data.
You can change the alphabetical list to the DirecTV number lineup when you call up the Guide...go left to the 3 lines and change the setup.
It's easy for me and I can use it in the RV or at home. I can have 20 streams running at the same time and have 20 hours of cloud storage to watch shows that I missed. I'm sure there are more inexpensive services but this gives me what I have which we are used to at a savings to me.
One more thing...make sure you press the home button before shutting TV off it will continue to stream until the service times out cuz you haven't made any channel changes (mine was set to 2 hours)...that eats up data that you aren't seeing.

When you're traveling, what local channels do you receive with DirecTV Stream?

Howdy!

We are fulltimers and have been using Direct Stream since it came out. At first it was called Direct TV Now, then ATT Now and recently changed to Direct Stream. Names change but the service hasn’t. We are lucky that we are grandfathered into the first pricing. We have traveled over a good deal of the country including Canada and Alaska and have been able to use the the service even in Canada. That was a big changer for us as when we crossed into Canada and especially Alaska before we lost satellite service. We have also been able to get local TV service in the areas we are staying without having to contact satellite service to change our location like before. We do have unlimited data service with three providers ATT, Verizon and Sprint/T-Mobile which doing so provides us with service without having to worry able a connection seeing we stream everything and a lot of it.
