Directv VS Dish
Currently we have Directv and thinking about switching to Dish. We have a feature in Directv where you can purchase a network package and have either Los Angeles or New York stations. The question is does Dish offer a similar package?

No, DISH Network dropped DNS service several years ago. Unlike DirecTV, it is very easy to change your SERVICE address as often as you want so local stations are readily available.

we have the pay-as-you-go (PAYG) plan. pay for what you want for as long as you want. before we head out I call DISH, pay for a month and the service starts. at the end of the month we renew online for another month and so on. when we get back we either let the month run out without renewing if there are only a few days remaining or we just cancel and the pro-rated unused portion of the month is either a credit on the account or refunded.

We have DNS (distant networks) with Dish Network.
West coast channels nation-wide, so they are 3 hours delayed on east coast but we record everything and watch later.

If you are a sports fan, Dish is not a great choice. I was going to switch over, but their lack of sports coverage made it a deal breaker.

Don't call DISH. Contact a local satellite TV installer instead.
If you contact DISH, you may get conflicting/bad advice depending on who you talk to.
