Dish Authorization

I took the Dish box out of a spare bedroom and hooked it up in the RV for the first time. We are only 35 miles from home and I got it dialed in fine because I can get the Dish 101 channel explaining the basics and I get the menu, but when I try to go to a channel it says my card is not authorized. Any ideas on what I'm missing?

If the receiver has been disconnected for a time you may have to call dish to have a signal sent out to update the receiver programming. I leave my receiver in my MH and when it is not turned on for a few weeks I have to contact them to send down a signal. Just call their 800 number and get tech support on the line. They will want to go through a whole series of other fixes but just let them know that the receiver has been off for a time and needs to be updated. It can be done instantly.

Another item you might try is the "check switch" process. On your remote hit "menu" then keys 6, 1, 1. This will put you into the satelite signal screen and toggle the "check switch". This process will take 5-10 minutes to cycle through.

I find that if the box hasn't been used in a little over a week it will be dead and I'll have to call and get them to zap it. PITA, you have to go through all those menus and get tech support. They should just put in your account on the web.

Good stuff folks...thanks for the replies. It hasn't been used in a year so I'll bet that is the answer...and Larry, I went through the switch already, thanks.
