Dish Eastern Arc & Western Arc

I am getting Dish setup at home and want to be able to take a receiver to camp and in the RV. I assume the installer will try to use western arc dish at my home. I need the eastern arc at camp.
Are the accounts setup so you can get either set of sats?

I'm not sure why you need the Eastern Arc satellites in camp. We have a Dish Tailgater antenna which only receives Western Arc satellites. We have used it all over the country including up and down the East coast with no problems. The Western Arc satellites are visible all over the lower 48 states with the exception that satellite 129 may not be visible in the far north eastern states. 129 provides most of the HD channels. Hope this helps.

Well duh, didn't think of that. I move my Tailgater around on a 100 foot cable and can generally find a clear spot.

Yes, your account with Dish will allow you to use either EA or WA. I have both 1000.2 and 1000.4 antennas and can use which ever one needed to get a clear shot at the sats.

If you are using the receiver from your house, you will have to run a check switch when you change to the other satellite arc. Other than that annoyance you should be good to go.

DISH HD Locals

Since over 1/3 of DISH HD locals are on the Eastern Arc, this is another reason to use this arc.

Because I live in NH, Dish setup a twin LNB, 1000.2 EA dish on my house (61.5 & 72.7 satellites) with a ViP 722K receiver. I bought an identical dish for tripod setup with my MH. I brought my house receiver with me. While in FL, a friend of mine gave me a newish triple LNB, 1000.2 WA dish. I set it up on the tripod. After the normal dish alignment and receiver procedural setup, the 1000.2 WA worked just fine. I expect a triple LNB 1000.4 EA dish (if Dish still installs them) would also work without issue. Hope this helps.

You can use any satellite on your account, you do not have to be individually authorized for western or eastern arc. I normally use western arc but use 61.5 in rare situations when necessary. Just point your antenna at the desired sat (and you may have to run the 'check switches' routine on your receiver.)

I got my Traveller in Sep in Norfolk after 6 months of using the In Motion Antenna from Colorado to Michigan to Florida. Now I'm on the West Coast. The entire time i've used the same 110, 119, and 129 satellites. Home dish users may be pointed at 78, but these three worked for me across the country (129 was sometimes tough because of the trees and it is low in the sky.
