Dish Playmaker w/Wally connecting to the Internet

I am about to head out next week and was wondering if anyone has hooked up their Wally to the Internet. It has an RJ-45 jack in the back and I tried a wireless USB adapter with no success.

I did see that you can purchase a Dish Network wireless USB adapter. I was curious if anyone had any experience

I use a Verizon MiFi Jetpack running on the Visable network

Thanks for any replys!

With a wally you will need to use a router in the internet system to be able to plug an ethernet cable in. I now have a Pepwave that will allow WiFi input and ethernet cable output as well as WiFi output. To use the wireless USB adaptor you will need the Netgear version 2. Good luck finding a version 2 without going through Dish and using their WiFi USB adaptor. I had a non Dish version 2 WiFi adaptor that worked well till it quit and Netgear sent me two version 1's and 3 version 3"s before I finally got a version 2 that did work under warranty (explained that I needed a version 2 every time) they act like it doesn't matter but it will not work unless it is a version 2.

Funny you should ask...

I have purchased my two Wally receivers as well as the USB WiFi adapters, but I don't have the service from Dish yet. (We are turning that on this week.) In the initial setup, I had no problem at all getting the receiver to find my RV's personal WiFi network and connect to it. I wish I could tell you that I've watched shows, etc., but I haven't yet. I do know that it connected and allows me to see the "On Demand" channels in the guide, while it doesn't show any other channels, simply because I haven't subscribed to any.

I believe when I talked to the Dish rep on the phone when I purchased my equipment two months ago, he told me that these adapters were proprietary, meaning if I wanted it, I had to use THEIR adapters, not a third-party. I'm inclined to believe him because I also wanted to buy the 1TB option for DVR and he wouldn't sell it to me because I could get a 2TB or larger one for less money shopping elsewhere!

Hope this helps at least in knowing that it can be done.

The Wally in my trailer is connected to my WifiRanger Spruce router along with my Apple TV streaming device and Cerbo GX logging gateway for my Victron Energy devices.

The Wally has Internet access if my Spruce router has a connection via my cell phones or home Wifi.
