DISH Satellite Help needed !
I am having trouble with my roof mounted satellite system. It has always been very reliable but this year it will not link up with the satellites. When I turn the receiver on after a complete reset you can here it turning around and around ? I'm using DISH and the 211 receiver in my Bounder 36H DP MH.
Not sure how to trouble shoot so any help or direction in trouble shooting is appreciated. I did remove the receiver while the MH was not in use and put it in the house. Since returning to the MH it has not worked. The Tailgater antenna is working find so it's not likely the 211 receiver ?
Thanks
Bill

Which roof mounted antenna?
Have you run check switch? If so, was it all successful?

You do not mention age or type of satellite antenna. My Kingdome did the same thing. It was more expensive to repair it than replace it so I replaced it.
Might try removing power from the control unit and see if it will reset.

Dish Network tweaked their satellites and now a lot of people are having trouble with their old systems. If you have KVH or King Dome domes about the only fix is to switch from Dish Network to Direct TV.
I have a 2 year old KVH that will only tune into sat 119 for Dish now and the technician had problems getting it to do that. I've given up on it and use my Tailgater.
Good Luck,
Jon

I believe it is a King dome. I have run a switch test but it fails because it will not lock on a satellite.

Nuts: does your King Dome just keep searching, or does it stop after a minute or 2, and just shut down? If it stops after a minute or so it could be the same issue I'm having with our King Dome and is an inherent problem with King Domes, and that is it's loosing it's 12VDC power feed. Rather then try to trace out the 12VDC wire we've decided to upgrade to a Trav'ller II Dish network antenna. It's something we'd planned on in the future so it just got moved up a couple of years. IMO the Trav'ller is far superior to the King Dome anyway.

dish
like the above post stated, dish made some changes and a lot of the king dome systems will not work?? Had to replace mine also. Went with a winegard G2 as it is about half the price of other units and one of only a few that will work with direct and dish. Fits right in place of the king dome. Still working on the replacement.

It keeps going and going like the bunny ! Just can't figure out what might have changed during the summer when it wasn't in use ?

Before you blame your satellite antenna I suggest you temporarily replace a working Dish Network receiver in someones home or RV, with your receiver and to see if your receiver works there.
You may have a "satellite receiver" problem, (not a "satellite antenna" problem).

Call the manufacturer.
As I understand it Dish recently made some changes in their satellites, Mostly how they broadcast the Sat's ID (Again from what I understand) this means that your Automatic Dome is no longer to identify the bird and can not lock onto it.. Some domes may be updatable via software.. But others (IE: Mine) no hope will need replacement.

Earlier this year, DISH began an effort to convert most of its satellite TV signals from QPSK encoding to a new 8PSK format. The new signals allow more content to be streamed through the same bandwidth and provide greater utilization of satellites, although these signals cannot be decoded by many mobile satellite antennas or the older DISH Network satellite receivers including models 301, 2800, 3700, 3900, 4900, 1000/1500, 3000/3500, 4000/4500, 5000/5500, 501, 508, 510 receivers.
Since 1998, KING has manufactured a variety of mobile satellite antennas using several different proprietary methods of finding and identifying satellite signals. Some of these models relied on the QPSK signal in order to identify satellites and will be affected by these changes from DISH. Other models manufactured by KING either do not rely on this type of information to lock-on and identify the satellites, or they were designed with a special tuner that has the ability to identify the 8PSK signals from DISH and therefore are not affected by these changes. We expect that DISH will continue to transmit QPSK encoded signals from at least a single transponder on each DISH satellite for some time, so most KING satellite antennas that rely on that signal can be programmed to look for the remaining QPSK signals.
A historical list of KING satellite antenna models and the related impact of this change on each model is listed below:
KING-DOME
9700/9702/9702-LP/9630/9630-LP
*Unaffected by DISH transition to 8PSK
9704/9704-LP
*S/N #611325 or lower requires software re-programming with KING #1844 dealer installation & diagnostic tool (higher S/N already use 8PSK tuner and are not affected)

*S/N #370864 and higher may be re-programed from end user controller to track active QPSK transponder on satellites 110/119/129. Additional support for the Trac-King model antennas is no longer available.
