Dish spot beam
Does anyone know if you can have the Dish spot beam changed for just one receiver in a house of 3 receivers? I have one in the RV (now in Little Rock) but two others at home in Colorado. Tried chatting with dish tech support and think I would get more information from my dog.
Thanks!

As far as I know, you can not change just 1 receiver with DISH. Any change in service address affects every receiver on the account. That is why I used Distant Networks for the RV receiver until they stopped providing the service.

No. And don't push them too hard, they'll demand you move the RV to a separate account. (A friend has this issue with a vacation house - had years of hassles from Dish
in return). The issue is that your account has an address associated with it. The stations local to that address are authorized as your local stations. They can't let you watch other stations local to somewhere else, because that violates the law - they would be allowing you to bypass the local advertisers on the local stations at your home location.
Dish accounts are for a single location ONLY. You need a separate account for each location, otherwise you and your neighbor could 'share' an account and one of you get all their programming for the $7 second receiver fee. This is why they used to require the phone line - all receivers had to be on the same phone line...
They allow RVers to take one of their home receivers with them on the theory that they aren't using the receivers at home, so it's OK. If you convince them you'll be using both the home and RV receivers at the same time, they're within their contract terms to demand that the RV receiver be on a different account.

Spot beams are for a geographic area, i.e. Around a large city, part of a state etc. Now since you are in AR, the only local stations you can get will be the Little Rock stations providing you call Dish Network and tell them to change the "service address" on your RV account. The second part is the reciever in the MH on an RV account seperate from you home account? Dish may not change your service address since the reciever is attached to a home account. Let me know if you have additional questions.

What you're really looking for is information on locals. The spot beams for local stations are fixed by Dish. You can change your service address while traveling, but you can't change it by receiver. If you're recording on the home receivers, you might want to get locals over the OTA antenna or just skip them on the road.

I have been full timing for over 10 years, and have NEVER had trouble with DISH when switching locations requiring new settings.
The trick is to be explicit in your language as to what you want, i.e. something like "I've moved my RV so need to change my service address to XXXXX, not my billing address, but only the service address."
Seems to work for me!

I didn't have a problem either the one time I tried it. The problem is every receiver on the account gets switched, and for some of us, that is the problem.

But that's not Dish's problem. The reason for allowing you to change your service address is so that you can have local channels on your RV account, not so that you can have service in two locations for the price of one. I don't mean that to sound snarky, but surely you can see their position.
