Dish Tailgater - monthly cost?
We are in a loocation without OTA TV for the next 5 months so I ordered a Dish Network Tailgater package. I can't seem to find the cost per month for the "Pay as you go" service which would allow us to turn the service on or off as required without a contract. We're only interested in the most basic service, primarily for ABC, NBC etc. Can anyone help?

Well, it really depends on what program package you choose. The least expensive package will runabout 20 bucks. You can find the costs at the Dish website, I believe the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS etc.) are free so you will get some additional networks. Enjoy.

Ours is $65 a month, with fees, for 200 channels.

If you mirror it off the home account, it is $7.00 per month additional.

Great point and that's an excellent deal. This is how we are setup and this way you get all the networks you have on your home account. The only caveat is local tv eligibility can get a little complicated when traveling.

My Tailgater should be delivered tomorrow. I installed the "Dish for my RV" iPhone App and this is the picture it gives me. We are not easily able to move our campsite. Can anyone hazard a guess if we will get reception through this narrow window in the trees?

Hey Bruce...
Let me know what you think of your Tailgater when you get it up and operational. I'm looking into that one as well.
Thanks,
Don

-Warning-
The $25 is the intro plan* - offered when you buy and activate the equipment (and you might HAVE to ask for it)
The $7 price is for a linked RV receiver on a home contract - not a "pay-as-you-go" account.
*After the intro plan period expires (something like 1 year), Dish will revert your account to regular pricing. The smallest/cheapest pack is America's Top 120 (I think) for $45 (taxes take it to $49).
Having an RV account allows you to get the "locals" (Network feeds spot beamed to you for the nearest city) for FREE...just a 800 phone call away - no switching fee either - call as often as you move.
The "locals" should NOT be confused with Distant Network Service (DNS = East and West Coast networks). On Dish, DNS is currently $44 plus tax and only in SD from a 3rd party company.
And -of course- you can take the pricing up as high as you want with movies, sports, special ethnic, adult, etc.
I have cable at home so for the RV, I have the minimum Pay-as-you-go plan for my ViP-211k w/Winegard rooftop and Tailgater set. I'm in my second year and it is really GREAT...no complaints, once I understood everything.
Best of Luck

Should be good to go. Dish Network core channels are primarily on Sat 110 and 119 but you might need a clear view to 129 depending on the package your ordered.
My month bill is about $35. No HD and the only package is the Encore channels for an extra $5 a month.

If you are an existing Dish customer... Then you pay 7 bucks a month...you can turn it on and off monthly...We have been doing it for three years...
