Dish Trav’ler Troubleshooting

My SK1000 is manually locked on to the 61.5 satellite. I’m in a location where I can’t receive the 110/119/119 satellites. My Wally is showing “complete loss of signal”. I connected an old VIP 211 in the bedroom and get the same symptom.
So, I went up on the roof and checked all connections and everything looks good. I stowed and redeployed the antenna and got the same result.

Next, I disconnected and reconnected the 6 pin plug on the interface box. Now the VIP 211 in the bedroom is getting a signal, but the Wally still won’t work. So, I move the Wally into the bedroom and now it works fine. I’m thinking that there’s a bad or loose connection in the 6 pin Molex connector.

My questions are: Has anyone successfully replaced the Molex connector? I see it is a 43025 plug. Does anyone know the wiring connections, and voltages that should be on the 6 wires? Lastly, does anyone know how to check or test the coax on the turret and LNB mounting arm?
Thanks k
Dan

Molex Connector

There is a tool specifically designed to remove pins from aMolex connector. You might find hem at a hardware store nut most likely yu'll hae to order one from a supply house. Looses pin connections are common on this type of a connector. Over the 47 years that I spent as an electronics tech I can say that I have repaired mrethan a few of these.
As for the voltages at each pin; you woud need look at the mabufacturer's literature.

The coax connectors on the SK1000 have been known to give problems.
They leak rainwater into the connectors. These are the connectors on the turret, not the connectors on the LNB.

I personally had this problem. Cleaned the connectors and it has worked since.
I did put some caulk on the connectors where the thin coax wire goes into the connectors to prevent further water entry.

I had much the same symptoms you are having now.

Once the unit is shut down, the LNB's work because they get the power from the Receivers. The molex is not your problem.

That’s interesting. Doesn’t the LNB need power to acquire the satellites?
