Dish Trav'ler Reflective Dish

So on the way home from a multi-week trip we started hearing a noise on the roof. Stopped a couple of times, even pulled out the ladder and took a look around.....Everything looked fine so we went on. It was raining and the wind was swirling so we thought it might just be a function of the particular weather.

Well about 3 hours into the trip there was a loud noise and had to pull over (Again), get the ladder out (Again) and finally, I saw the culprit.....this time the reflective dish had come loose.....apparently all 4 bolt attach points had broken off leaving quarter-sized holes in the dish

Once we figured it out it wasn't a big deal to get it out from under the Trav'ler mechanism.....bolts were still nice and tight connected to the antenna.

In any case, I was able to order a replacement on Amazon for $37..... we'll see how it works once I get it installed.

Anyone else had any issues like this?? It seems kinda strange that the actual reflective dish would fail.....it stows pointing to the rear and is about 4 ' from the front of our class A MH......just wondering if these fail on a regular basis

I've never heard of another one doing that. It cinches down pretty tight to the LNB arm so I can't imagine how it moved enough to break the bolts unless it wasn't all the way down at some point.

I have heard of it happening to others. It is apparently due the dish flexing and cracking around the mounting screws.
Learned about it from the Entergra users group, so I check my dish from time to time for cracks to prevent complete failure.
If I remember correctly it first manifested itself on DirectTV size dishes. They are larger than the reflectors for Dish.

I lost two of those thin flimsy reflectors from fatigue cracks around the mounting bolts. I ended up adding large stainless steel fender washers and stainless bolts. This pic shows the top two replaced. I ended up with all four replaced. It didnít affect the signal at all. I guess my mounting location had unusual wind buffeting that caused it, but those reflectors are mighty flimsy.

I ended up discarding the entire Winegard Travlr after the third or fourth internal failure and installed an RF Mogul which is much sturdier.
