Dish / Winegard Carryout Anser Help

I have a Carryout Anser I am using for Dish Network. But I am getting conflicting support from dish as to which satellite to lock on to. The manual from Wineguard says to use 72 and Dish says to use 110, or 112, or 129.
I have locked on all of them and each one only has limited programming. Mostly PPV channels, Porn channels, and the NBA channels. None of them have full programming. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know which sat I should be looking for? I am based in So. Cal. Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the Anser switch between the satellite the receiver is programed for?
Either the 110/119/129 The 72 is mostly needed when in the Eastern states only.

Dish programming is spread out between 110,112, 129. I am not sure what you mean by it only has limited programming. You mention PPV porn and basketball. I am assuming that you mean when you go to your guide that is all that you see. Call dish customer service and asked for someone in the RV group. I believe they are called advanced technical service but am not sure. I know they used to be called the RV group and that should still get you to the right people. Tell them you have an rv and the problems you are having with your carryout. They should be able to help troubleshoot it. From the way you are talking it almost sounds like your receiver is not authorized but I think when that happens you do not get the channel guide but I do not remember what the exact symptoms are. but you can also try going to some of the regular dish channels to see what happens

dish channels
Food 110
diy 111
HGTV 112
history 120
syfy 122

Alas the problem with Dish Network, more satellites than you can count..... 61.5, 72.7, 77, 110, 119, 129, 148(not currently used) plus some others not used for subscription TV.

First, The Anser is a single satellite solution. It does not toggle between different satellites like the X1 or X2 or the Carryout G2.

The reason Winegard recommends you to point the Anser at 72, is that 72 had or has the "largest selection" of Dish programming on a single satellite. That being said, there are certainly channels on other satellites that you probably want to watch. It is not a great solution for Dish Network. It's much more useable as a DirecTV SD portable device.

Thanks for all of your help. As I suspected and was confirmed by a Wineguard rep. The Carryout Anser is a single satellite dish. So you pick which one you want and disconnect the power and it stays locked on that Sat. It work good for Direct TV because they don't only transmit SD to portable dishes. But with Dish Network you can only lock on one sat at a time therefore only watch what channels are available on that Sat.
I will be returning the Anser and purchasing a Dish Tail Gaiter. It is fully automatic and will toggle between all three Satellites so I "should" get most of my programming.
Does any one have any reason not to go with the TG?
Thanks again for your help.

You might also look at the Pathway X1 or the Carryout G2. I have an X1 on the roof and an original Carryout portable. Both work great with Dish. They will automatically toggle between satellites.

Remember that the Pathway X1 is only able to access DISH's Western Arc (110, 119, 129) sats.

The Pathway X2 can access both the Western Arc & Eastern Arc (61.5, 72, 77) sats -- a distinct advantage if you're traveling around the country.

AND the X2 has a larger reflector which will perform better in the rain or heavy clouds.

Thanks for everyone's help. I did finally get the Carryout to get the programming that I thought should be there. It was a case of Dish having to resend the programming guide. However, after playing around with it for a while I realized that to see channels on another sat. I would have to realign it again.

I decided to purchase the Dish Tailgater. Camping World had the best price. Better than Amazon and Ebay. I love it. It is fully automatic. Simple to setup (less than 5 min.) and it is smaller and lighter than the Carryout.

I realize that it only works for the western arc, but we live and mostly travel in the western US. In the instructions it says that the far NE cannot get the high def. 129 sat. but that's ok with me.

Once again thank for everyone's input.
