DishPointer App No Longer Viable
I purchased the DishPointer app (DP AR) for my iPhone over 5 years ago, after reading about it in this forum. I love the way it helps me find the location of my Dish satellites via my iPhone camera. The developer of the app however has never updated the app and it no longer works in iOS11. This app was not cheap, it was $20. I attempted to contact the app developer, but have been unsuccessful.
Anyone else had any luck?

dish align is a great app and spells out how to do it and gives you the exact location so you just point your compass on your phone and boom your done. it tells you what position you need your sat also. has a huge zip code search where you just look for your zip your in and all the info is there. this is where i’m at visiting my parents for and it’s pretty damn accurate. here’s the app.

Yep that's what I use and works great. If your someplace without cell service you can use the compass to align your dish.

DishPointer App No Longer Viable
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I guess I should have been more specific on the type of app I am trying to replace. I have an iPhone, so I am limited to what is offered in the Apple App Store. My old app was an augmented reality app that allowed me to locate my Dish satellites in the sky via my phone screen, while searching for any antenna obstructions such as trees. My roof mounted satellite antenna is automatic, so that’s all I really need. “The Dish - My Satellite Finder” app seems to be the closest to what I have been using. However, after more research, I found that the same app developer offers a lower priced augmented reality app for specific satellite service providers, such as Dish Network and DirecTV. I have Dish Network, so I downloaded the “SAToolz for Dish Network” app for $5. It’s exactly what I need.
Thanks again for the feedback.

I used the dish pointer app for years. It worked great. But now we’ve dumped Dish after 19 yrs and gone to streaming at home and on the RV. No more SAT bills for us.

Who provides your internet service, how large is it and how much does it cost.
From what I see, it is pretty pricey for unlimited plans. Heck, my 8 gig plan is $70 a month with Verizon.

Try Satfinder Pro HD from Kvasha. $3.99. Looks like that is similar to what you have. Point the camera up at the sky and you see the satellite arc, highlited with the 3 Dish sats. Easy to use with obstructions.

My wife has a Verizon "Unlimited" plans on her cell phone and I have an ATT Unlimited plan on my cell phone. We've added broadband MiFi cards to each plan for an extra $20 a month. These each provide 22 gigs of data per month as part of the plan. After you use up 22 gigs then the speed is subject to optional speed limitations however, we've not encountered any problems with that. We've used as much as 60 gigs when on an RV trip without any problem.
Both providers keep changing their plans, but when we got our unlimited Verizon plan it was only $65 a month, that's less than you're paying for 8 gigs.
I purchased a membership with Mobile Internet Resource Center's website. It's $65 a year, which is a lot to pay for a website, but it's saved me tons so I don't see it as a problem.
They keep track of all the plans and all the changes and anytime something new is offered they're on top of it. Plus they keep attuned to hidden offers that you can get in on to get extra bandwidth and such. On top of that they test all kinds of mobile internet hardware, antennas, boosters, wifi routers and such.
Here's a link to their website: https://www.rvmobileinternet.com.
We've found streaming both at home and on the road to be simple, inexpensive and just as good if not better than paying $200 a month for Satellite like we were with Dish for nearly 20 years.
