DTV Converter hook up on Cambria 26A
I am electronically challenged to set the stage. I tried to install a Zenith pass through converter to my analog TV today and got no where. I do not have a switching center. I do have a bat wing antenna with electronic amplifier. There is an antenna jack coming out of the center of the bat wing amplifier, can it be used to hook up the converter? There is no way to get behind the TV with out serious disassemble. I have been able to get the satellite TV remote dish to work OK. I have not tried the DVD player.
What is the purpose for the antenna jack coming out the front of he amplifier front plate? Strangely enough I was able to get TV on the analog set today, w/o the converter being hooked up. Very clear pictures and stations over 50 miles away. I used the DVD player hook up to get the satellite system working. Simply revmoved all the wires from the DVD player and put them to the sat receiver. Sure can use some help on this issue.

Some manufacturers use the connector on the front of the amp front plate to go to the front tv and the connector on the back side to go to the rear TV. Winnebago does not. They put a splitter in the line from the connector on the back and the outputs from the splitter go to the TVs.
You cannot have anything between the Winegard antenna and the wall plate circuit board since the amplifier is actually on the antenna and gets it's power from the wall plate.
I connected my converter box in the coax going to the VHS player. I had to use the converter box remote to set everything up and do a search for the digital channels.
As I recall I had to set the TV to "antenna" and channel 3.

Clay L. Thanks for your response. Would it be possible to put a diplexer on the back side of the amplifier and run a coax from it to the converter? I can't splice into a VHS, don't have one. There is no coax going to the DVD player, just the red white & yellow wires from the back of the TV, coming through a very small hole in the bulkhead. It is a factory installation. There are three ports on the cabinet wall for hooking up satellite TV. None say anything about into TV.

It should be possible to use a diplexer but you should be able to do it without one.
There are three coax connectors on the back of the Winegard power supply (their term for the wall plate). One goes to the bat wing ant/amp, one goes to the service bay, and the other goes to a splitter. You should be able to connect the converter box between the power supply and the splitter.
That is what I would have done if I had a pass through box.

Clay L: Thanks Clay, I will give it a try. My first attempt will be w/o a diplexer and see if that will work. It can't be rocket science, if one can just find a lead into the TV.

Since yours is a pass through converter here is the connection diagram for it using the standard "Wall plate" type antenna switch
Wall plate====converter====television
You want a cable running from the wall plate to the converter's ANT-IN jack, and a 2nd cable from the converter's TV-OUT to the television, you can use the included cable for one of them, it matters not which one.
The wall plate must be TURNED ON for the antenna to function properly
Adding the Wingman to the antenna will improve it's performance
Of course, if there is no digital signal where you are. nothing will work..
But it's that simple
NOTE: for those with the multi switch and a pass through unit, The only change is "Wall Plate" becomes "Video Switch"

Thanks to every one of you that responded. I finally got it all wired in and it is all working. Working in that little hole where the amplifier is mounted was a bear.
