Base Camp is terrible. I'm trying to change a road on a route and can't find instructions to do it. I get frustrated every I try to plan a route.

I have a Garmin 770 and use Basecamp and really like it but it does take time to understand. The nice thing is when your 770 is attached you have the RV/campground database available to you to search areas. I watched the tutorial videos, made my share of mistakes, but learned how to use it and I very much like it.

WOW, thanks for all the replies. It seems that Garmin should make a program for JUST RV'ers since they sell many RV specific units. I just got rid of a Rand McNally RV unit and there route planner was easy to use and understand. I made a route from Colorado all the way down to Key West and then up the east coast then back to CO. We had over 28 campgrounds we routed to with no problems at all. To bad that program won't download to my new Garmin.....
I will study the UTube videos to and try to get better at Base Camp....

Guess we are not as constrained as most. We have a general plan, for instance from LA to the east coast with a few specific stops sometime on the way. Maybe a few date constraints. But we hear about something to see a 100 miles south for a couple days and we are off in that direction, now we get back on route. So we, I do a day to day and sometimes that gets change minute to minute for weather, traffic or ???. Its EZ to have all the RV's parameters set in and just change route either by voice command or map or city name, or RV park we just called two hours ahead. We have in high traffic areas changed routing along the way as we checked traffic with the cell and Google maps being all but up to date by the minute. Just did that just after the Eclipse in central Or, saved an hour on a short run to another RV park by staying on back roads not the hiway, but always made sure Ms Garmin was happy for the RV.

I used to really like Mapsource but since I started using Basecamp, I like it and appreciate how many things it does. It has a pretty simple learning curve if you take a couple hours to play with it.

Left click while holding the alt key will let you drag a point and should re route. It has worked for me, so far.
