Garmin GPS RV 760LM Question
Hello Folks,
We own the Garmin RV 760LM GPS.
Does anyone know how to change the route from the ones suggested when you program in the address? I would love to customize my routes but the GPS seems to offer only 1 or 2 choices of how to get to my destination. What if I want to drive a route that they are not suggesting? I would love to program it in. I know I can add "via points" in order to change the route but that is very tedious to do and confusing also.
I read the instruction manual and did not see this option.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Leslie

On my 760 you click on the 'hand' and then hold down 'alt' and make your moves. It will take some practice (I'm still practicing) but it works.
Good luck

You can also use Garmin Basecamp on a Mac or Pc to layout your route and then upload to the 760. There's a trip planner tool in Basecamp. You can download it here.
BaseCampâ„¢ | Garmin | United States
Also download Garmin Express. With it you can download a copy of the 760 map - City Navigator to your pc to use offline.

Looking at purchasing the 760 soon. Question, does take in account low over passes and alert you to the fact before going on a specific route?

X2 on PDBLUE's comment.
I always create my own route to the proposed destination. I enjoy staying off highways and bypassing some larger cities, if possible...you know, seeing the sights.
Something I've discovered when dropping a way-point in Basecamp...zoom in close to be sure the way-point isn't placed off the intended road or you'll find yourself touring some neighborhoods and backstreets to get to the dropped way-point. With a little practice it is fun to do.
If you input the specs for your unit, it will attempt to avoid potential issues. However, as with all databases, it doesn't have them all.
There is a download (for purchase) that has a more extensive database for low clearances. I have not tried it but plan too. Low Clearance POI - GPS Data
