Garmin GPS won't let me code in new address

I have an older Garmin 650 GPS that won't let me add in new address I need to get to.
When I turn it on I select Address. State is automatically a choice from other address. Then type in city, then street. but when I select Done it says No Matches Found and leaves me with a blank screen. Of course you dummy, that's why I'm adding in this new one.

I know this works cause I have several other addresses I have saved. But why can't I add another new address. Any thoughts, suggestions, or ideas what's happenning. Or what I've missed some place.

I haven't used this in several years but didn't think I had forgotten this much. Am needing to get to a medical facility in a new city and would like the GPS to help me find it.
Thanks.

My 890 wont find an address until it gets internet signal, sometimes that takes a minute or two from a cold start. Try resetting your internet connection and see if that helps.

There is no need for internet to enter an address. On my RV760, you enter: street number, street name, then city. It is kinda of particular on "street name", especially state hwy/US hwy. If it will not take specific address, you can try entering an intersection.

It could be that the GPS database is older than the address you are entering. I have seen similar results when new subdivisions are created and have not yet made it into the mapping data the GPS vendor uses, it seems to take at least a year for the new info to make it into the system. If the GPS maps have not been updated recently you may want to upgrade them and try again. You can see what version of maps are loaded by going into the system setup screens.

The address must exist in its internal database. It doesn’t need internet.

When was the last time you updated the internal maps?

If it was a new building built since the last map update, no problem, simply try a slightly different street number (which hopefully matches a building or house next door to where you are going)

You should also be able to enter street intersections which should get you close enough to navigate the remaining distance on your own.

Everything about this GPS is original, probably more than 15 years old. Have never upgraded any part of it due to not using it much and never thought upgrades were worth it on an older machine. Always intended to buy a new one.

it's quite possible that part of town was not there when the Gps was new. Will try a different area of town in that general location.

You might try getting the latitude and longitude coordinates from LatLog.net and enter those.

Many Garmin GPS have lifetime map updates available, their older models that supported free lifetime map updates have model numbers that end in LM or LMT

...and Garmin says that the lifetime map updates are good as long as they decide to support a specific model. Once a model reaches it's "end-of-life" and is no longer supported then the lifetime maps are no longer available.
