Hello,
First, you might want to change your spelling to GARMIN, to help you better in searches, as well as this post.
There's been SOOOO many posts about the Garmin, including the 1090, that I hate to start a new one here. However, I can tell you that I am on the Beta Test Team for the 8xx and 10xx series and feel confident in telling you that there's really no competition out there in terms of inclusive functions, routing, and ease of operation for an RV.
The big thing about the 10xx is they're BIG, and can be rotated vertically which, after years of horizontal use, I'm finding to be a preferred orientation. I love their mount, too.
I'm not going to get into the "ensuing" argument about using the "free this or that", like Google, Waze, Apple, or a myriad of other apps. They're not even a distant second when it comes to ease of use, TRUCK/RV specific routing, easy route and waypoint modifications including truck stops, rest stop, detours, etc.
Free apps DO serve a purpose in my life of navigation; I'm as tech-saavy as they come and even am a Pro subscriber of RVLIFE'S app through RVTW. Their app is anemic in all terms, but slowly improving. That said, the only thing I'd like better on the Garmin would be to allow an easier workflow between RVTW and the Garmin; to which there really is no easy way at all. So, I input my trips/routes manually and this brings me to the final point...
For planning your trips, routes, etc. in advance, once again, there is not even a close second to a Garmin.
Hope this helps.
