These three connections are used in a load balancing router to average out the "ups and downs".

In addition both our phones have unlimited postpaid Verizon plans with 15GB/mo each and my wife's iPhone has HDMI output which I can direct to the TV, if necessary.

All our video is streamed.

The visible account you are using, is this a cell phone using hot spot or a hotspot device using a data only account?

Dr J could I ask what load balancing router are you using. We have two at&t plans. A grandfathered plan from a reseller supposedly truly unlimited and running through a NightHawk, and another at&t plan the connected car unlimited “ “ Mobley. I would like to consider another carriers plan and the load sharing router. What would you suggest.

There are a number of companies that make affordable load balancing routers. There's information available about them at the Mobile Internet Resource Center https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/

We use 120 to 200 gigs every month. Since we are streaming more and more, now with Netflix, Prime, Peacock, Hulu, and Disney we hardly use the Tivo anymore.

I think it may go beyond 200 gigs per month this year.

Watching WAY TOO MUCH TV with museum, theaters, sports, etc out of the picture...

It is super easy to blow through our data each month. Currently 100GB w/ AT&T and 30GB for two phones w/ Verizon. I tend to download since we have encountered several spots in the western US where we had ZERO signal, or at least something so weak as to be unusable for streaming. If I download at night using a park WiFi's data I can do normal surfing for a month and not worry about our data usage. If I stream or download using our AT&T device all bets are off.

Wow!, and to think I feel badly about using 25 gigs a month on our AT&T Mobley account.
Had no idea of the amount of data some use. Thanks for the postings from everyone.

Using the FMCA unlimited plan on T-Mobile/Sprint and hit 200Gb/month.
I keep the phones on Verizon so hopefully wherever we are, if there is service at least one of them will work.

Doc,
I think we might have similar Verizon grandfathered data plans. I was able to upgrade my 15 GB data only plan to 30 GB for $30.00 month. I also get a veterans discount.

Their current data only offerings (new accounts) seem to suggest they are intent on pushing this type of customer somewhere else.

Heavy usage means different things to different people.

Thanks for the response, most have, but those posting usage please describe your type of usage.

On another note, I see starlink has listed pricing, $500 in gear and $100 a month for the service. I have not signed up for the beta, I’m just not interested in going through the growing pains! But I hope all you beta users will post your experiences, but be patient about it!, the pitfalls will be plentiful, as should be expected with any beta tech!

I use a Peplink Max Transit CAT-18. I average around 600 GB per month. The UI on the device has the capability to provide detailed usage statistics for all traffic it controls, cellular, WiFi or Ethernet.

With that said, I am hunkered down in a RV park near Holden Beach, NC due to COVID. Fortunately, they have some of the better WiFi I've encountered in a RV park. I have looked am my usage trends for the months of June, July, August, September & October.
Based on my analysis of usage I would say, I am consuming less than 4 GB a work day over cellular. A work day in my world is around 6 to 8 hours. Cellular usage is limited to financial transactions, on line video meetings associated with my work, email, downloading/uploading multi MB files to various remote locations & connecting to remote PC to provide support. Based on my experience, these activities do not consume the amount of data as streaming to a media device. However, I have stress tested the cellular connections & they are most capable of streaming video to multiple devices with out any buffering.... of course that depends on proximity to cell towers.

The balance of data is consumed by WiFi provided by the RV park to stream data to the two TV's controlled by ROKUs.
The cellular plans I have from AT&T & Verizon are no longer currently offered by either.
How to acquire/activate/use them in today's environment is a subject of much controversy and should be addressed in another topic.
Hope this helps.
