GPS
I am thinking about purchasing the Garmin 465T GPS. Some of the reviews I've read from truck drivers are not very good; seems they are having a lot of problems with it. Does anyone use this GPS? Please provide feedback of this unit and any other GPS that considers size of the rig for programming. I use a TomTom now but it thinks I am a car and sends me to places I don't want to go; low bridges, narrow roads, etc.

I have been using the 465T GPS for about a year. You can set it to truck or car mode and it is NOT accurate with many roads. Some are truck restricted while they are fine for a private motorhome. Most low clearance bridges that are off the interstate are NOT on this GPS. Whenever you go off the beaten path, you will have to do your homework on line to find all the problems on the route (Google Maps Streetview) and most of all, keep your eyes open.

Some of the problems with GPS are not the fault of the GPS unit. Garbage in means garbage out. If the map data is incorrect or out of date that is not the fault of the GPS unit. The GPS unit knows exactly where it is within 12ft the problem is some of the people that do the map data don't know where they are .

Just received my new 765T tonight, went with it rather than the 465T. It does not have the truck option but does have FM radio output and bluetooth and lane assist which means a lot to me. I can download the height restriction from poi and use them. Got it with lifetime maps for $240 delivered which is a bit cheaper than the 465T. Also have a 265WT but the maps are out of date so it stays in the 4-runner.

Now you have your new 765 go up on https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/custo...rminHome.faces and register it then go to the "My Dashboard" with your 765 plugged into the computer and let it find it then update the software. Follow the directions provided. It my take more than once to update so don't be alarmed if you update it and it still shows you need an update again.
Then go Garmin | WebUpdater and install Garmin Updater on your computer and then when done you will get a different update when you plug your 765 in.
Can't understand why it can't be all done in one site at one time.

Garmin 765T
Does the Garmin 765T enable me to input vehicle size? My primary reason for looking for a new GPS is to ensure it doesn't send me to places where my RV shouldn't be. I use a TomTom now and it provides everything I need EXCEPT it thinks I am a car and sends me to low bridges, small roads, etc.

No, the Garmin will only allow you to select Truck or Car and I have not found any particular differences in the way the routing takes place when selecting one or the other.

Hi OLYLEN, Is your Garmin 765T refurbished or new?
Would you mind telling us where you purchased it for $240 delivered?
That seems to be a very good price.
thanks, Robert

JBrroadway....I agree with Bill in that the 765T does not allow you to change the vehicle size so you would show hazards.

This won't work for my current GPS, so I can't personally recommend him, but we have corresponded by e-mail and he seems like a really nice guy.
As soon as I have a compatible GPS, I'm going to try this out:
Truckers POI
. . . ahh . . . just looked deeper into his updated website, he now supports Streets & Trips which I will have in the next day or so . . . I will report back once I get this and set it all up!
