I've been intending to post this URL for several weeks and kept forgetting (old age), POI Factory . Great source for POI files, with many .bmp and .mp3 files to go with the POIs.

Yes, a terrific resource.. A major bigge is for the most part the POI's there are updated frequently. I use this link that takes me directly to the complete alphabetized list of POI's available there.

I have uploaded 2 POI (Point of Interest) files to the POI factory that you can download.
Newmar RV Dealers
Tiffin RV Dealers
"Workhorse Service Center" file should be available soon once it is approved.
I may do some others this winter that are RV related.

I got a new Garmin 650 for Christmas, what is the procedure for downloading POIs? And please keep any help very simple, I'm not very computer literate, or anything else that requires computerized manipulation. thanks

Suggest you go here and read the how to's in regard to POI loading your Garmin..
Also go here and get a copy of the Garmin WebUpdater so you can keep that Garmin up to date.

The manual that came with the new unit will give you step-by-step instructions, IIRC.

I like POI files. Even though some of the locations are already in the GPS, POI's make it easier and quicker to find the place that you are looking for. For example, I just created and uploaded the POI file for Tennessee Wineries. Now when I am back in Tennessee and traveling across the state, I can look at this POI and see if any of them are close by. There are many other states winery POI's that have already been uploaded.
Here is a list of many POI's that apply to RVers:
Flying J
Low Underpass Clearance
Tennesse State Parks (Most all state parks)
Passport America
National Parks
Casinos in USA
Camping World
Corp of Engineers
Escapee Parks
Rest Areas
Walmarts
Newmar Dealers
Tiffin Dealers
Workhorse Service Centers
KOA Campgrounds
TVA Campgrounds
National Parks/Monuments/Rec Areas with Developed Campgrounds
Public Campgrounds
Jellystone Parks
Military FamCamp
RV Dumping
Cummins Diesel
Loves Truck Stop
Travel America Truck Stop
Pilot Travel Center
If you have a GPS and it has the capability to upload POI files, then I suggest you find the ones that interest you and load them on your GPS.

Is there a universal usb cable that can be used to load the POI's? The Garmin cable is out of stock.

This is a standard USB cable that is used for many purposes. It has a standard USB connection at one end and the mini USB on the other. My digital camera uses the same cable. You should be able to pick one up almost anywhere cables are sold.
