GPS Quest

I know GPS's have been talked about a lot, but in looking at RV's I came across a picture of one with a 2nd display mounted to the copilots' seat, that being said...I'm looking for a RV GPS that has a 2nd display with controls, this should keep my other half busy while I drive hopefully. Any help would be appreciated

Never hears of such a thing, but my DW was bad enough when she had control of the paper maps. I would hate to give her control of the GPS.

Will-

I've not seen a second display, either. I'd be interested if one comes up.

That said, we mounted our Garmin (760LMT) on a mount between the two seats, one that could be rotated so either party could use it. When I drove, my wife used a map and "Next Exit" book to navigate; when she drove, I did the same, but occasionally spun the GPS towards me to read the display and let her know the "GPS Lady" was going to send her up some lane or exit two miles ahead. She appreciated (I think) the advanced warning. Sometimes, I'd program the GPS with an intermediate stop (restaurant, gas station, propane fill) from the right-hand seat. Once done, I'd spin the display back to face the wheel.

We used a Ram Mount beverage-holder mount for the GPS. I also looked at the Ram 18-inch flexible stalk mount.

It probably would be cheaper just to buy a second GPS. Get a full featured one for the driver and a cheaper basic one for the passenger.

I would much rather have the full featured GPS for the passenger.

Good point. The driver already has too many distractions. Let the passenger deal with the navigation.

We've owned the Garmin RV760LMT ("Samantha") for over a year now, and really enjoy it. We've also added the associated backup camera for it, and that's been terrific.

I've owned only Garmin GPS units and I take some time to program them before leaving on a trip. It's now very seldom that I get led astray.

We own a Saturn Vue which we use as a toad for our motorhome. I've had a Garmin nuvi 3790T ("Hazel") for the Vue for some years, and now know its "quirks". When we're towing, we use Samantha for the driver, and take Hazel out of the Vue and use her for the passenger. Both are mounted to bean bag bases.

Each unit has its strenghts and weaknesses. Most of the time they agree with each other, but when they don't, we know enough to do some further investigating before we reach that critical exit sign.

You can probably tell, I REALLY LIKE GPSs, but you have to get to know them really well. You can't take one out of the box, plug it into your RV, enter a destination and expect not to have any problems. They are (despite me giving them nicknames to the contrary) just computers. They'll certainly lead you astray if you let them.

The second screen for a GPS was optional in several of the higher end units for some years. It was in our Magna.
In our case the DW wouldn't use it anyway.

We do have a Garmin built in but I still use my other GPS as I like it's setup and output better.
