"HDCP Error" on receiver in RV - anyone familiar with fixing this?

My 2005 Class A had 2005 era electronics in it. The previous owner replaced the front TV with a flat panel, so I don't know how old it is. It's certainly newer than 2005. The TV is an Insignia NS-39L240A13.

I am running the whole system through a Pioneer VSX-1020 receiver that a friend gave to me. I have the Pioneer connected to the TV via HDMI cord.

Connected to the Pioneer HDMI inputs are a Wally Dish receiver, a Panasonic BlueRay player, and a Nvidia Shield Pro Media Player. The Nvidia and Wally are current tech. The BlueRay, Pioneer and the TV are older, but of unknown age.

I hooked everything up, and it all seemed to work ok. However now I am using the RV for the first time with the whole setup, and now I am getting a flashing warning on the Pioneer that says "HDCP ERROR".

I have read up on HDCP, what it is and what causes errors. My problem is, it can be any one of the compnents, and even any one of the HDMI cables. How in the world do I determine what's causing this error?

I can't tell you how to troubleshoot the issue, but I can tell you that I have resolved the error message by putting a splitter in the line. Somehow, the splitter messes with the HDCP handshake and the "keep Hollywood making money" message goes away.
