After going back and forth between Direct TV and Dish options, I finally ordered Dish Network for the RV. The installer is scheduled to bring a 211 receiver tomorrow and activate it, but I just learned that the KingDome is factory configured for Direct TV service

Has anyone switched the KingDome configuration over to Dish themselves? I understand Kingdome will loan the programming tool to do that, however I won't have it done for tomorrow when I get the receiver.

Now I'm not sure whether to cancel the Dish installer appointment until I have the Kingdome reconfigured or go ahead and let him bring the receiver then I can finish the job later after reconfiguring.

Will the receiver receive anything without the Dome being reconfigured?

I reset my King Dome using the tool provided (loaned) to me by King Controls. I could not lock on to any DISH satellites before I reprogrammed the King Dome. The actual reprogramming was very easy, I called tech support and they stayed on the line with me until the reprogramming was complete.

NO!
You might be able to use the controller to move to the 119 satellite (DTV) and if you can you will also receive the Dish Network programming their.

The reason I was hoping to get at least some signal or channel was to make sure the receiver was functioning before I signed off on the work order accepting it.

Since Dish is making me buy the receiver, I figured I'd make them install it and check it out. Oddly, their price for the receiver was cheaper than I could find it at any of the online dealers I checked.

We have the Kingdome Auto Scan (entry level)with a hard-wired remote. Its manual gives elevation maps for DirectTV 101, Dish/DirecTV 110 and Dish/DirecTV 119. We switched from Dish to DirecTV with no problems. We have never had to request tech or installation support, everything being easy to follow. Our only contact with DirecTV was to activate the system after we had located the proper satellite.
