How hard is it to hook up portable sat??
If I buy a wine gard portable Sat, how hard is it to connect to my coach. I have a 2014 H R Vacationer 32wbd. I have a new dish network vip211k top box. Do I just hook the coax cable to the outside cable hook up ? Plus power of course.
Will I need to have a shop do this initial set up ? I am about a 7 on struggling through most fixes. That means 3 tools per hour of work go flying.

You hook it up to your satellite connection, not cable. Cable runs through the antenna booster and on to set one and two. Sat needs a dedicated wire.

Depends. On some coaches it will work from the cable connector in the electrics bay. It works on my current coach, but not on a previous coach.

I do currently have a kingdome in-motion sat mounted on top from our previous coach. The mother board is no good and cost of fixing it is not worth it.
It is hooked up, running to a electronics cabinet in the coach just behind the passenge seat overhead. There is a hdmi as well as a coax connection there. This is where the top box and blue ray player are.
Does this change anything ?

Rusty, here is what I have done. I purchased the Dish Tailgater and vip 211k and ran a dedicated rg6 cable from the outside wall plug to a new flat screen tv replacing the old box tv in the overhead. You already have rg6 cable in your new rig. The air ant and sat cable connection come together in the overhead panel and are activated by an AB switch of some sort depending on the coach builder. I assume you have a cable/sat tv connection on the outside of your coach. Rg6 coax cable does not know if your tv signal is coming from cable tv at the pedestal or from a Dishnetwork Sat ( Wineguard or Dish Tailgater ). Simply said the tv doesn't know where the signal is coming from until you push the AB switch and enter your tv menu settings and tell it what to look for. The Dish Tailgater is very simple to set up. Set it out, pointed south with no obstructions (trees) Power for the Sat comes thru the Rg6 cable from the vip211k. Go inside and follow the on screen prompts to activate. The sat will automatically find the three Dish sats and begin downloading. Takes about 10-15 minutes. You can receive Pay per view and all dish channels. You can receive local channels where ever you are with a simple call to Dish and give them the zip code where you are. IHMO the Tailgater is better then roof mounted because you can move it about to find clear signal, which is a real problem in the western mpuntains and eastern heavily wooded parks. If your coach cables are not as I have described and you are not comfortable with pulling cable thru your wire chases and cabinets you can hire a local Dish installer to help. But setting up Dish Tailgater is a no brainer. I can't speak to Wineguard, I have never owned one. Hope this helps.
