How to change display function on Windows to
OK, I upgraded to Windows 10 when it first came out and at some point I had an update that enabled some sort of display change.
I'll be on my laptop reading news or RV forums and use the touch pad and at random the display will go to a screen showing all the Apps that are open. Xcel, word, pictures, file exploer>> whatever I have open. The will all be displayed and supposedly I can click on any of them and go to that APP.
I hate it because it does it randomly, I haven't figured out how to get it to do it when I wand AND all of these Apps are already displayed across the bottom anyway
How can I disable this useless tool????

Whenever I think the operating system is acting up I open the Command Prompt and click run as administrator. Then I run "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. Of course you could remove the update. Or reset the computer. Or update your touchscreen driver in device manager. Or disable it altogether. Or run a troubleshooter and tell it to run in compatibilty mode for an earlier Windows edition. Or get a Windows 11 computer that will run much faster anyway.

Jim-
I did a quick search for how to disable the multiple desktop or task view functions in Windows 10, but came up short.
But, here's one thing you can try the next time it happens- Press the Escape ("Esc") key. See if that view goes away.

Go look at Touchpad Settings, and the 3 & 4 finger gestures.
I think the 3 finger gestures are set to show all open windows by default.

Thanks for replies
I had preciously looked at touch pad settings and lowered the sensitivity, that didn't help
I looked at the tablet mode function and turned it off. Didn't fix the problem.
My problem is that I don't know what actually triggers the screen to drop out and then showing all the apps that I have open. I cannot recreate it, which is frustrating. It happened again this AM!!

Jim-
Windows key + Tab key will open the multiple desktop function in Windows 10.
So will clicking on an icon in the taskbar.
I may be incorrect, but there may be a "gesture," such as swiping across a trackpad with one or multiple fingers, from left to right.
If you use the Windows key + Tab key to open a multiple desktop window, does hitting the Escape key close it?

Look at the "Gestures" setting inside the Touchpad Settings menu.
That's where you will find the setting for 3 finger and 4 finger gestures which bring up all open windows and all open desktops.
Adjusting the touchpad sensitivity will not fix it.
Turning off tablet mode will not fix it.

Looked at it,
Tried it,
Didn't work.

At the bottom of your screen, to the right of the search bar, there is a task view icon (looks kinda like a ladder).
Click that and see if that's the screen you're seeing.
If that's it, right click on that icon and uncheck the Task View entry.
See if that helps.
Apparently swiping the TouchPad upwards with three fingers will activate Task View also (as well as Windows key-Tab). You would also want to follow jberger's suggestion and turn this off in Gestures.

That's it, Task View I created the button in the tool bar and I can toggle it on and off. I'll leave the icon on the tool bar and maybe that will disable the function on the touch pad.
But not sure how I was doing it with the touch pad. I've tried to do it intentionally and have not been able to recreate it. It usually happened when I was using the mouse on the right side of the display.
Thanks.

You allude to using Win10. But in Win11, when you hover the pointer in the far bottom right corner it will display the show desktop button, if this function has been turned on. The function can be found in Personalization> Tasbar.

If I move the cursor to the lower right corner I can toggle between the browser and laptop screen but it doesn't show all the apps I have open.
I was aware of this as a tool to quickly drop the screen you were working on, handy at work when dealing with confidential stuff.
