How to hook up Winegard Roadtrip Minimax with DTV

RV came with a Winegard Roadtrip Minimax Stationary Model RT8000.

First off, I know this model is "obsolete" but want to know if I can still use it. I also know that I can not receive HD.

I have Direct TV at home, all my receivers at home are HD modes.

I know I have to make sure the DIP switches are set to DTV.

Can I use the DTV HD receiver with this satellite, or do I need the non HD one? I noticed on the DTV HD receivers there is a coax in plug, but no coax out, just HDMI and some other plugs.

Is this even worth trying to get going, or do I need to fork over the cash for an upgrade?

Any help would be appreciated.

I use our Direct TV HD DVRs from the house with our Winegard RoadTrip RT8000T that I installed in 2013. It is not obsolete.......

You only need one coax into the DVR/Receiver.

To record two programs simultaneously on a DVR, you will need to run a coax from each LNB (connections are on the outside base of the dome) to the DVR.

If your Receiver/DVR has only one coax input, then you will likely need to install a SWM switching system between the Dome and the Receiver/DVR.

Winegard has a useful schematic on their website for various types of Dome connections.

On the DVR outbound signal, HDMI is the best connection.

If you want to distribute the DVR signal via coax to the BOMB or TV you can buy a gizmo for about $15 from Monoprice.com that will connect to the RCA outputs and attach to an outbound coax.

I have one. It works. But I cannot remember what it is called.......

Ok figured it out, with help from Dean and some basic hit and miss programming.

For my set up, I am only running one TV, brought my receiver from the house out, it is a HD receiver.

I did not have to use a power inserter, Satellite coax plugs into DTV receiver. Then the receiver is connected to TV via an HDMI cable.

DTV receiver satellite setting is 10: 3-LNB (18x20) & 95 degrees

switch type- multiswitch

Congrats! I have mine figured out as well, called Winegard customer service.

For the RoadTrip SDi, or RT1200T and DirecTV:

Remove dome, set dipswitch to 1 if coax cables extend out front of dish towards front of coach. Set dipswitch to 8 if cables extend out back. (Original install paperwork I have says 1 and 8 are set if cables extend out front).

Set receiver, via satellite setup: Satellite - 02. 3-LNB (18x20) and 02. for multi-switch.

H-24 or lower models of the HD receiver should work for this.
