I thought about that, and bought a wireless camera system, so re-running a new cable was not an issue.

My camera unit (Jensen) has gone out. What unit did you get and did you install it yourself?

Thanks,

Jim

Sony back up camea and monitor cable

The same cable can be used but on our Journey the monitor provided the 8v power to the Sony rear camera and the long cable ends are proprietary Sony. So you might have to provide a separate power source for the Sony camera if you just replaced the monitor or change out the camera also with a 12v unit.

To change both camera and monitor I made short adapter harnesses from connector parts taken from the monitor chassis and camera pig tail so that the long cable was not cut. Replacement camera was $18 on Amazon and original separate monitor/AM FM radio/XM units were replaced by all in one JVC 1.5 DIN unit. The replacement camera was small enough to fit inside the original housing on the top rear of the coach.

A tedious job but not very expensive especially when the upgrade in performance and capability is considered.
