I was wondering if any of you have one permanently mounted on their RV roof. If you replaced an existing dome, did you use the coax cables from the old unit or did you run new cables. Any tips greatly appreciated.

I have a permanent roof mount G3 for DISHnet.
I did not replace a dish so it was a new install.
The nice feature is that you need only the one coax from the G3, thru the roof, to the power center. That is, the coax serves as both signal and power.
I find that the G3 (like other dome dishes) is finicky.
- That is, I can be in a clear line of sight location to all 3 satellites. And I either don't lock into all 3, or don't get anything
- Then I move my rig 3 feet either way, it's locks in perfectly
So that's a frustration at times.
To be honest...I've decided to step-up to the $1500 Traveler. That way I can either use my Hopper3 from home, or get two tuner capability from my Wally & DVR (watch one channel live, while recording another). The G3 does not offer that feature.
With the dome dish (as you may or may not know), it only locks into 1 satellite at a time. So, you cannot use a Hopper3 or have more than 1 tuner on the Wally.
Also, if you choose to add a 2nd Wally on your G3 dome dish, it serves as a "slave" and must comply to the "master" Wally's chosen satellite. So it's frustrating to use.
