Internet

The new Ford Patriot we have coming in has a “wireless internet router”. What does that really mean? Do I have to set up service with a carrier, use my cell hotspot, or what?

Probably have to get a compatible cell carrier acct and then once connected to the tower, it broadcasts wifi in the vehicle that the occupants can log into.
I have an AT&T Mobley that pretty much does the same thing - costs me $23/mo for unlimited data.

My new Ford Bronco Sport has the same deal. You need to set up a data plan with a compatible carrier. My Mobley (SIM card) is installed in a modem that powers my home Internet access. For the Bronco I just use a phone hotspot as needed

Many of us have phones that work fine as hotspots. But when we're on a roadtrip in our car, the car connects to the phone via Android Auto or Apple Car Play and provides us with music or whatever else we want. Can't see why I need any dedicated device for the car.
